Starting this weekend, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea will launch a new tourism program called Senses of K-Culture, targeting foreign nationals residing in Korea and foreign key opinion leaders (KOLs) to promote lesser-known aspects of the country's culture.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea, Senses of K-Culture will take participants to nine different locations across Korea this spring and fall, offering opportunities to experience local heritage, cuisine and unique Korean outdoor cultural activities.

The program's nine destinations offer unique experiences beyond the already popular tourist attractions.

This weekend's program will take participants to Gimpo City and Ganghwa Island in Gyeonggi Province, both west of Seoul.

There, the KOLs will visit Aegibong Peace Ecological Park, where Korean villages can be observed, Jeondeung Temple - one of Korea's oldest temples, and a cafe with famous desserts, to taste and experience how traditional Korean sweets are made.

Next May, the program will head to the east coast of Korea to visit the cities of Donghae and Samcheok in Gangwon Province from May 23 to 25, followed by the city of Gyeongju in North Gyeongsang Province from May 26 to 28.

September's destinations will be Muju County and Jinan City in North Jeolla Province, while in October, participants will explore Gongju City and Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province.

As part of its efforts to promote culture and tourism through international partnerships, the show will partner with foreign broadcasters, starting with Mongol TV. Film crews from the network will join the tour and then broadcast the experience to audiences in Mongolia.

With the popularity of K-pop, Korean dramas and movies (K-dramas), Korea has become an increasingly attractive destination for foreign tourists.

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the number of foreign tourists visiting Korea exceeded 16 million last year.

While participants for this weekend's program have been selected, the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will open applications for future trips.

Any foreign resident who is active on social media is eligible to apply. Applicants who wish to participate can visit senseofkculture.kr for more information.

The global status of Korean culture has increased significantly in recent years, said an official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea.

However, there are still many aspects of Korean culture that are unknown but can be fascinating to foreign tourists.

Accordingly, through this program, it is hoped that participants will immerse themselves in Korean culture and share their experiences with audiences and fans./.
