On the afternoon of September 16, information from Ms. Le Thi Anh Tuyet, Vice Chairman of Thong Nhat Ward People's Committee said that 21 students of class 7/1, Ton Duc Thang Secondary School (Thong Nhat Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai ) had stomachaches, dizziness, and vomiting after drinking milk tea at school.
Accordingly, on the morning of September 16, the parents' committee of class 7/1, Ton Duc Thang Secondary School organized a Mid-Autumn Festival for 45 students by giving each student a cup of milk tea.
At around 9:30 a.m. the same day, some students showed signs of stomachache, nausea, and dizziness. The school's board of directors notified the Thong Nhat Ward Health Station to come and check and record initial information.
The verification results showed that the total number of students in class 7/1 present on the morning of September 16 was 45/46 students. There were 34 students who drank milk tea and 11 students who did not drink it. Of the students who drank milk tea, 21 students had stomachaches, dizziness, vomiting and 13 students did not show any symptoms.
After examination and testing, one child had to be transferred to Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hospital for treatment, while the remaining 20 children were taken home by their parents for monitoring.
By 2:10 p.m. the same day, the health of the students was basically stable. Currently, only one student still has symptoms of abdominal pain and mild fever, and is continuing to be monitored and treated at Hoang Anh Gia Lai Hospital.
After the incident, the Ward People's Committee directed the ward health station to regularly monitor the health status of the students and at the same time report to the city health center to take food samples to investigate and verify the cause of the incident.
It is known that the above milk tea was purchased from a tea and milk tea shop in Hoi Thuong ward, Pleiku city.
