Born and raised in the heroic Dak Phoi commune, when she was eighteen or twenty, Ms. H Lang Ong (born in 1949, residing in Sruong hamlet, Lien Son Lak commune) was a passionate M'nong girl who bravely followed the villagers to join the revolution to protect her homeland. After liberation, Ms. H Lang Ong chose to live a single life, taking care of her parents. In 1995, she moved to Bong Krang commune (now Lien Son Lak commune) to live with her niece's family.
Last April, with the State's financial support for building a house, Mrs. H Lang Ong was very happy because for her, having her own house has been a dream for many years. The new house was built next to her niece's family's house, ensuring closeness, convenience for care, and maintaining privacy. This is not only a house but also a recognition, a deep gratitude that the Party and State give to those who have made silent contributions during the war like Mrs. H Lang.

Sharing the same joy, Mrs. H Pong (living in Yon village, Lien Son Lak commune) was very emotional when she was in the house that still smelled of new paint. She and her husband have 3 children, her husband passed away, now her children are all married and have their own lives. Due to financial constraints, Mrs. H Pong had to live in a makeshift hut on her family's land. "At my age, I never thought I would have a solid house to live in," Mrs. H Pong confided. However, that seemingly distant dream became a reality when she received financial support from the State to build a house. In early July, she moved into her new house. The new house is not only a place to shelter her from the rain and sun, but also a solid spiritual support, helping her have a more stable life.
For the family of war invalid Nguyen Van Tai (Tan Ha 3 residential group, Buon Ho ward), the 41% disability rate makes him unable to do heavy labor, the family's income mainly depends on the 5 million VND/month supported by the State, so for many years, the small house, although degraded, has not been repaired. More than a month ago, with the State's support of 47 million VND, and the children's help of 10 million VND, the couple was able to repair the house to be spacious and clean.
Implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025", Dak Lak has been building and repairing 9,493 houses for poor and near-poor households, families of people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs. Of which, there are 608 houses for families with meritorious services, including 155 newly built houses and 453 repaired houses.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tai and his wife (Tan Ha 3 residential group, Buon Ho ward) expressed their joy when their house was recently repaired. |
According to the master plan, the nationwide temporary housing elimination program is targeted to be completed by August 25, 2025. However, in the spirit of gratitude and responsibility, the Prime Minister has requested to accelerate the progress and completely complete the support for housing construction for people with meritorious services, relatives and families of martyrs before July 27 this year.
Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses, Y Giang Gry Nie Knong, shared that in implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for families with meritorious services, in the past time, the provincial leaders and localities have closely followed and urged the construction of each house to ensure the progress and quality of the project, helping people to enjoy and use it for a long time. At the same time, forces were mobilized to participate in supporting working days, cash, materials, utensils, etc. to help families with meritorious services have solid houses. Up to this point, Dak Lak has completed and handed over a total of 607/608 houses to beneficiaries of meritorious services (1 house was not completed because the owner recently passed away, so the family did not build it).
It can be said that each house completed and handed over on the occasion of the whole country's gratitude to war invalids and martyrs is a living symbol of the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source" and community responsibility.
