Brotherhood, national solidarity

To commemorate the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs this year, along with other activities and programs of gratitude, Dak Lak has completed the program to support the elimination of temporary housing for families of those who rendered meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs. This is a practical action, marking the profound gratitude of the entire political system and the whole people to those who have dedicated and sacrificed themselves for the Fatherland.

Born and raised in the heroic Dak Phoi commune, in her late teens and early twenties, Ms. H Lang Ong (born in 1949, residing in Sruong hamlet, Lien Son Lak commune) was a passionate and courageous M'nong girl who joined the revolution with her fellow villagers to protect her homeland. After liberation, Ms. H Lang Ong chose a single life, dedicating herself to caring for her parents. In 1995, she moved to Bong Krang commune (now Lien Son Lak commune) to live with her niece's family.

Last April, with financial support from the State for house construction, Mrs. H. Lang Ong was overjoyed because owning her own home had been a long-held dream. The new house is built right next to her granddaughter's family home, ensuring closeness and convenience for caregiving while maintaining privacy. This is not just a house, but also a recognition and a profound expression of gratitude from the Party and the State to those who made silent contributions during wartime, like Mrs. H. Lang.

Joy fills the air in Mrs. H Lang Ong's new home in Sruong hamlet, Lien Son Lak commune.

Sharing the same joy, Mrs. H. Pong (residing in Yơn hamlet, Liên Sơn Lắk commune) was deeply moved to be in her new house, still smelling of fresh paint. She and her husband have three children; her husband passed away, and her children are now all married and have their own lives. Due to financial constraints, Mrs. H. Pong previously lived in a makeshift shack on her family's land. "At my age, I never thought I would have a solid house to live in," Mrs. H. Pong confided. However, that seemingly distant dream has become a reality thanks to government financial assistance for housing construction. In early July, she moved into her new home. The new house is not only a shelter from the rain and sun but also a strong source of emotional support, helping her to have a more stable life.

For the family of war invalid Nguyen Van Tai (Tan Ha 3 residential area, Buon Ho ward), his 41% disability rate prevents him from doing heavy labor, and the family's income mainly depends on the 5 million VND/month government allowance. Therefore, for many years, their small, dilapidated house remained unrepaired. More than a month ago, with 47 million VND in government assistance and an additional 10 million VND from their children, they were able to renovate their house, making it spacious, clean, and beautiful.

Implementing the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025," Dak Lak has been constructing and repairing 9,493 houses for beneficiaries including poor and near-poor households, families of people with meritorious services to the revolution, and relatives of martyrs. Of these, 608 houses are for families of people with meritorious services, comprising 155 newly built houses and 453 repaired houses.

Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Van Tai (Tan Ha 3 residential area, Buon Ho ward) expressed their joy that their house had just been repaired with support.

According to the overall plan, the nationwide program to eliminate temporary housing aims to be completed by August 25, 2025. However, in a spirit of gratitude and responsibility, the Prime Minister has requested that the progress be accelerated and the housing support for war veterans, their relatives, and families of martyrs be completed before July 27 of this year.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dak Lak province, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the Elimination of Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in the province, Y Giang Gry Niê Knơng, shared that in implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for families of war veterans, the provincial and local leaders have closely monitored and urged the construction of each house to ensure the progress and quality of the project, helping people to enjoy and use it for a long time. At the same time, they mobilized forces to participate in supporting labor, cash, materials, and supplies… contributing to helping policy beneficiary families have sturdy houses. To date, Dak Lak has completed and handed over a total of 607 out of 608 houses to policy beneficiary families (1 house was not completed because the head of the household recently passed away).

It can be said that each house completed and handed over on the occasion of the whole country paying tribute to wounded soldiers and martyrs is a vivid symbol of the principle of "drinking water, remembering the source" and community responsibility.
