In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh, his wife, the Consulate General's staff and many overseas Vietnamese were moved to offer incense in memory of and gratitude to the heroic martyrs, including the martyrs who are our overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.
Speaking at the ceremony, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized that the Vietnamese people and overseas Vietnamese will forever remember the heroic martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers and people with revolutionary contributions over the past century who did not spare their blood and bones, bravely fought and sacrificed for independence, freedom, unification and protection of the Fatherland.
The great sacrifices of heroic martyrs and war invalids create a special spiritual value of "Determination to die for the Fatherland to live", forming a "resilient and indomitable" Fatherland for the country to have peace, prosperous development, and for our people today to be prosperous and happy.
Mr. Luong Xuan Hoa, member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese People in Thailand, President of the Association of Vietnamese People in Udon Thani expressed his pride and gratitude for the revolutionary tradition and meaningful contributions of overseas Vietnamese to the country over the past nearly a century.
The fact that overseas Thai people always remember and organize many meaningful activities on the occasion of the country's anniversaries shows the inheritance and promotion of glorious revolutionary traditions, solidarity spirit, and passionate patriotism.
The celebration of War Invalids and Martyrs Day vividly demonstrates the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source, when eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree" with profound humanity, strongly reflecting the traditional cultural identity and spiritual values of Vietnam.
In that spirit, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh expressed his hope that overseas Vietnamese will continue to unite, integrate and actively contribute to the local society, promoting their role as an important bridge to help strengthen the Vietnam - Thailand cooperation and friendship, worthy of the great contributions and sacrifices of President Ho Chi Minh and generations of war invalids and martyrs.
The memorial to overseas Vietnamese martyrs at Ban Chich Pagoda, Muong District, Udon Thani Province was built by the overseas Vietnamese community in 2010 with funding from the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam ( BIDV ). Five overseas Vietnamese martyrs were honored and their names were inscribed at the memorial, including:
- Mr. Dang Thuc Hua (1882 - 1932) (Party member, Thanh Chuong - Nghe An);
- Mr. Co Khon (1833 - 1939) (Party member, Nam Dan - Nghe An);
- Mr. Vo Van Kieu (1899 - 1933) (Party member, Dien Chau-Nghe An);
- Mr. Vo Van Dong (1909 - 1929) (Party member, Dien Chau-Nghe An);
- Mr. Hai Den (died 1947) (Party member, Duc Tho-Ha Tinh).
