This morning (April 9), Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School ( Hanoi ) organized an entrance exam for grade 6.

At first, parents were still waiting seriously outside the school gate, but the moment the exam ended, thousands of parents rushed out and surrounded the school gate to pick up their children.

Helpless in the situation of "no one listening", a teacher of the school had to climb up to the school gate and use a loudspeaker to call for order.

Sharing with PV Dan Tri , Mr. Viet Anh, a parent of a student taking the entrance exam for grade 6 at Luong The Vinh School this year, said that he arrived quite early today to take his child to the exam. Because the school gate was quite narrow, plus there were many vehicles passing by, parents stood on the sidewalk, even spilling out onto the street.

Ms. Phan Thi Lan, a parent whose child took the exam at Luong The Vinh Secondary School, Tan Trieu campus, also said that at first, parents waited for their children very orderly, and everyone praised the school for organizing the exam this year quite thoughtfully.

"However, at around 10:45, when students finished their last exam, parents could no longer control themselves. They broke all order to rush out to pick up their children and ask if they had finished their homework.

The school teacher shouted for a long time but no one listened, so he had to climb up to the roof of the school gate and use a loudspeaker to ask parents to move aside to make way for the students," said Ms. Lan.

Speaking with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Van Lien Na, Vice Principal of Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School (Tan Trieu campus) - Hanoi said that this facility had about 1,600 parents coming to the school gate this morning (April 9).

This year, the school also received a large number of applications, with an expected competition ratio of about 1/6.

According to Ms. Na, due to the large number of parents, the area outside the school gate is quite narrow, so when students finished their exams, thousands of parents rushed out, disrupting all order, causing the school gate to be overloaded.

"We invited the police, militia and teachers to guide order outside the school gate, but there were too many parents. The teacher stood below and spoke but no one could hear, so we had to find the most visible place to use a loudspeaker to remind the parents," said Ms. Na.

This year, Luong The Vinh School will enroll 560 students, divided equally between the two campuses. The method of enrollment for grade 6 is based on an assessment of ability and the results of 5 years of primary school.

For grade 6, the test to assess knowledge of 3 subjects: Math, Vietnamese, Foreign Language is mainly in the textbook.

This vice principal recommends that parents should not let their children practice for exams too early, causing pressure and stress for students.

Last year, this school caused a stir when hundreds of parents lined up to register their children for grade 6 but were not given a form because the school had already distributed all the forms they needed. Many parents were forced to leave after waiting for nearly a day.

Some opinions suggest that Luong The Vinh School should prioritize admission for candidates with high to low scores instead of basing it on whether they arrive early or late.

However, at that time, Ms. Na said that this method could cause the school to have to recruit in many batches and lack candidates.
