After 20 years of construction and development, Viettel Thanh Hoa has gradually grown and become a leading enterprise in the field of telecommunications and information technology in the province. Each stage is a journey full of hardships, struggles, and thoughts to find a suitable direction. With "Tradition and the way of being a soldier", Viettel Thanh Hoa has created important marks in all areas of operation, affirming its leading position.
The beginning was full of hardship but also full of glory
On April 30, 2003, Thanh Hoa Telecommunication Center (POP Thanh Hoa), the predecessor of today's Viettel Thanh Hoa, was officially established with a small initial staff and a rented office. The 178 long-distance telephone service was the beginning of Viettel in Thanh Hoa, a revolution in tariffs called "178 - Your savings code" that brought many benefits to customers when making international or domestic long-distance calls via Viettel's 178 service, customers will save about 45% compared to regular long-distance calls.
In 2004, to prepare for the launch of mobile services, the first mobile broadcasting station in Thanh Hoa was built. Immediately after that was a period full of hardships, Viettel Thanh Hoa staff worked day and night to install stations and pull cables in villages, hamlets, remote areas of the province. With the command "More lightning speed", "Flood the territory" to the countryside, Viettel soldiers in Thanh Hoa worked day and night to build a widespread network to all rural areas, to especially difficult areas, borders, islands... On October 15, 2004, together with Viettel nationwide, Thanh Hoa Telecommunications Center organized the launch of mobile services with the prefix "098", marking a historic turning point in the formation and development of Viettel Thanh Hoa. With the initial infrastructure of 15 BTS stations and the first 12 staff, Viettel did business on its own infrastructure. From here, mobile phones, from a luxury service, only serving the well-off, became popular to every citizen, creating opportunities for everyone to use mobile phones. Then, just over 2 years later, in August 2006, Viettel Thanh Hoa officially rose to become the mobile network with the largest number of broadcasting stations and coverage area in the whole province.
With strategic thinking and vision, right when the 2G mobile network was number 1, Viettel thought of developing a 3G network and more. In March 2010, Viettel Thanh Hoa launched 3G service, following those successes, on April 18, 2017, it launched a 4G mobile network with many times faster speed. The launch of the 5G network in 2022 has made Thanh Hoa one of the first provinces to be covered by 5G nationwide. Viettel's "waves" have spread throughout the border and island areas of the province, contributing to maintaining communication to serve economic , cultural and social development and national defense and security tasks.
“Pioneer, main force in creating digital society”
Immersing in the boom of the "digital age", along with the development of digital infrastructure, Viettel Thanh Hoa has promoted the development of the 4.0 application ecosystem with the successful construction of people's health records, vaccination portals for children; electronic information portal software (Vpostal), management software for the education sector... Effectively deploying digital products and services such as ViettelMoney, electronic signatures, electronic contracts... contributing to the goal of rapid and sustainable digital transformation of Thanh Hoa province.
Viettel is the unit selected by Thanh Hoa province to participate in consulting programs and provide services for digital transformation in the province. Cooperation programs with Thanh Hoa province in digital transformation are concretized at a new level when Viettel Thanh Hoa was selected to participate in providing technological solutions to successfully implement the Smart Urban Construction Project in Sam Son City; coordinate with Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee to organize the opening ceremony of the Electronic Party Member Handbook software, providing useful technological solutions with outstanding features in State management... Viettel Thanh Hoa has been pioneering in leading the construction of a digital society in Thanh Hoa province.
With the philosophy of "Production and business are always associated with social activities", the 20-year journey of building and growing strong is also a journey of constantly implementing social security and charity programs with all the heart and soul of Viettel soldiers. Especially from 2010 to now, Viettel Thanh Hoa has spent a total of 170 billion VND to carry out the task of rapid and sustainable poverty reduction according to Resolution 30a in Muong Lat and Ba Thuoc districts, focusing on items such as: supporting the elimination of temporary housing for poor households, supporting the model of raising cows for reproduction, building schools, commune health stations... The gifts containing the affection and responsibility of the "Uncle Ho" Viettel soldiers have been and are adding motivation for the people in the highlands to have more confidence, to confidently stick to the mountains and forests to build a rich and beautiful homeland and protect every inch of land on the border of the Fatherland.
The noble deeds of officers, soldiers and workers of Viettel Thanh Hoa also shine through a series of programs such as building houses of gratitude, giving gifts to families with preferential policies, health check-ups, providing free medicine to families with preferential policies, poor households, supporting Thanh Hoa province in preventing the COVID-19 epidemic, awarding scholarships "For studious children"... Viettel Thanh Hoa has become the enterprise that contributes the most to social security activities in the province with a total amount of more than 361 billion VND.
In 20 years of construction and development, from service 178 with a small staff and modest network infrastructure, Viettel Thanh Hoa has strongly risen to become the No. 1 telecommunications - information technology enterprise in Thanh Hoa province with the largest revenue, the widest network, and the most subscribers. With mobile service, Viettel Thanh Hoa has over 2 million active subscribers, accounting for about 73% of the market share in terms of revenue and subscribers, more than 280,000 fixed broadband subscribers, and more than 100,000 digital TV subscribers. In 2022, the total revenue of Viettel units in Thanh Hoa province will reach over 2,800 billion VND, of which telecommunications and information technology revenue will reach over 2,300 billion VND, creating jobs for nearly 900 employees and nearly 2,000 contract workers at ward and commune levels in the whole province. Quick adaptation is competitive strength, the core of production and business culture with the intelligence of soldiers. That is why Viettel Thanh Hoa always receives the trust of Party committees and authorities, the support of agencies and units located in the area and the trust of customers.
With the consistent mission of "Innovation for people", the position, image and brand of Viettel Thanh Hoa have always been affirmed through the stages of development. In recognition of these successes, the collective and generations of cadres and leaders of Viettel Thanh Hoa have been awarded many noble titles and awards by the Party and the State at all levels, such as: 1 Emulation Flag of the Ministry of National Defense; 3 Emulation Flags of the Group; 8 Emulation Flags of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province; 4 Certificates of Merit of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; 2 Certificates of Merit of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society and many other awards for the great contributions of Viettel Thanh Hoa to the strong development of the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group, Viettel Telecom Corporation and to the development of Thanh Hoa.
After 2 decades of construction and development, in the coming time, Viettel Thanh Hoa will determine the goal of continuing the journey of creating a digital society for sustainable development and a better life for the people, for the rich and civilized development of Thanh Hoa province in particular and Vietnam in general.
