At the top of Kala Patthar, about 100 metres from the top Everest Not so far from the legend, Vashna Thien Kim - a Vietnamese woman - experienced an unimaginable challenge: meditating for 60 minutes at a temperature of -25 degrees Celsius.
The cold winter in the Himalayas, where the high peaks stand like giant ice towers, can only be conquered by those with enough physical and mental strength. Vashna Thien Kim meditated for 60 minutes at a temperature of -25 degrees Celsius without using any support equipment. That is the strong message she sent to the world : "If we do not change the way we live and treat the environment, our own lives will also be at risk of collapse".
Kala Patthar, at an altitude of more than 5,600m above sea level, is a favorite destination for adventure lovers, and is also where Vashna Thien Kim chose to challenge herself. She shared that this choice was not only to prove her ability to overcome human limits but also to test the Haama Breath breathing method she founded. This is a special breathing method that helps the body accumulate oxygen and overcome physical challenges, especially in conditions of oxygen deficiency such as at high altitudes.
Her journey from Gorakshep, the last stop before approaching the peaks above 5,000m, to Kala Patthar was only 200m away but took 3 hours.
The surrounding scenery was extremely harsh: strong winds blew constantly, and snow dust swirled up, limiting visibility. But when reaching the top, all fatigue seemed to disappear before the majestic beauty of the snow-capped mountains and the sunlight shining down, creating a pure and magical space.
"With the current state of environmental pollution, especially in big cities like Hanoi , it is undeniable that air pollution is becoming increasingly serious and affecting human health," said Vashna Thien Kim.
Through the harsh challenge, she wants to emphasize that if there are no timely interventions soon, the living environment on earth will not be able to sustain human life for a long time. People will not be able to continue living in a polluted and diseased world without significant changes.
During the mountain climbing journey, one of the factors that helped Vashna Thien Kim overcome the harsh challenge was the Haama breathing method she created. This method is special because it is not just normal breathing but also creates sound when breathing, combining nose and mouth breathing with body movements. This helps release negative emotions, eliminate toxins and recharge the body with new energy. |
"The Haama breathing method has helped me cope with the harshness of the Himalayas. My body feels warmer, lighter and I no longer feel short of breath or pain. This method not only helps me survive in harsh conditions but can also help people protect their health in polluted environments," she said.
This is not the first time Vashna Thien Kim has engaged in action. environmental protection. Previously, she was the ambassador of the Vietcombank Mekong Delta Hau Giang International Marathon in 2022, where through her running steps, she called for environmental protection, especially in areas facing drought, salinity intrusion and unsustainable resource exploitation.
I took the risk to take on this challenge because I want to make people more aware of the importance of protecting the environment. We cannot continue to live in indifference and accept the serious consequences without taking timely action - Vashna Thien Kim.
Vashna Thien Kim commented that humans are gradually forgetting the close connection between themselves and nature. When nature is destroyed, humans will have to bear serious consequences. Every small action, whether in perception or reality, can change the situation. Therefore, she called on everyone to start with the simplest things, from changing habits in daily life to minimize negative impacts on the environment.
At the top of Kala Patthar, she not only faced the bone-chilling cold but also faced her own deep thoughts and emotions about life and death. "We are living in an era of severe environmental destruction, and in less than 30 years, if we do not take timely action, life on this planet will no longer be able to sustain itself. I hope that my message will help awaken those who are indifferent to environmental change, and that each person will start taking action to protect their own health and life as well as future generations," she emphasized.
Vashna Thien Kim has proven that one person can change the world if they dare to face challenges and sacrifice for a greater goal. Her actions are a living testament to the power of perseverance, creativity and love for the planet. She hopes that everyone can contribute to changing the world, even with the smallest actions.
