On June 29, hundreds of Vietnamese alumni studying inAustralia gathered to honour the outstanding achievements of six alumni who won the 2025 Australian Alumni Awards for their leadership, innovation and contributions to the Vietnam-Australia relationship.


“ Australian alumni in Vietnam are valuable bridges between our two countries,” said Ms Gillian Bird PSM, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam. “The relationship between Australia and Vietnam is built on strong people-to-people ties, deep economic links and a shared vision for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
With a deep understanding of both Australia and Vietnam, alumni play an important role in promoting mutual understanding and enhancing economic cooperation. ”

“ An Australian education helped me discover what was possible. Not only did I gain skills, but I also gained empowerment and confidence,” said Nguyen Thi Van, recipient of the Alumni Award for Economic Engagement.
This has changed the way I lead and share with many other disabled people on their journey towards a better life. I am determined to continue on the path I have chosen, inspired by my long-standing connection with Australia .”
Alumni receive awards at awards night.
This year marks the 10th year that Australia’s Aus4Skills program has been operating in Vietnam to enhance capacity and people-to-people links, thereby promoting the Australia-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Alumni honored to receive awards this year.
In addition to alumni activities, the Aus4Skills Program also includes components of the Australian Government Scholarships, vocational education projects, capacity building for higher education, and enhancing leadership capacity in the public sector in Vietnam.
Ms. Gillian Bird PSM, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training visited the exhibition booths at the event.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training, shared: “ The educational partnership promotes cultural understanding and strengthens the connection between the people of the two countries, contributing to strengthening the dynamic and close Australia - Vietnam relationship.
With many opportunities to access global knowledge and skills, Australian alumni are actively contributing to Vietnam's economic growth, modernization and international integration ."
The award ceremony is also an opportunity for former international students to meet and exchange experiences.
This is the second time this prestigious Award has been hosted by the Australian Embassy, following the success of the first Award in 2023.
The event is also an opportunity for alumni to reunite, reflect on their time in Australia and celebrate their achievements. At the same time, they will join a network of more than 160,000 Australian alumni in Vietnam.
