Volleyball is similar to traditional volleyball, it is a collective sport , easy to play, easy to practice, suitable for all ages. This is also a sport suitable for the physical conditions and grounds of residential areas, because the area of the field is moderate, can be played in the yard of the cultural house, school yard, office yard, park...

Compared to other sports, the investment cost for volleyball is not much, just a net and a rubber ball. Volleyball is not complicated, does not require physical strength, speed or muscle strength, and rarely causes injuries... so anyone with enough health can participate in training. Volleyball does not have difficult technical movements, but it gives players flexibility, agility, and increases suppleness for muscles and knee joints.

The rules of volleyball are relatively simple. Each team consists of 5 members, competing on a court 12m long and 6m wide. The net is 7m long (about 2m high for women and 2.5m high for men). The volleyball is made of rubber, yellow or orange.

According to the rules of the game, each team is allowed to touch the ball up to 3 times before it goes to the opponent's court. A player is not allowed to touch the ball twice in a row. Anyone in the back row can hit the ball offensively, regardless of the height of the ball. But when jumping to hit the ball, the foot must not step on or cross the 2m line, otherwise it will be considered a foul. Each match is 3 sets, 2 wins, each set is 21 points.

Ms. Tran Thi Lan Anh (Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province) said: “I really like sports. Before, I played badminton, but since my friends invited me to try it, I switched to volleyball. Every time I get off work at the company, I go to the court to practice with everyone.”

Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lai (Chau Doc City, An Giang Province) shared: “When I first started playing soccer, I just wanted to hit the ball over the net to the opponent’s court. Although the ball was awkward, not beautiful, and not accurate, every time I missed a shot or someone scored a goal, the whole court erupted in laughter. The more I played, the more interested I became in practicing, and the more I learned new techniques to master the ball and the pass.”

In the afternoon, at the park, school yard… the atmosphere of volleyball practice and exchange is always exciting with beautiful passes, pushes or saves. And there are also regretful sounds when judging the pass wrong, mixed with the cheers of the fans.

Ms. Le Thi Truc Dao (Long Xuyen City) shared: “Every free afternoon, I go to the field with my friends to practice. My health is getting better day by day, my spirit is excited and cheerful, and my illnesses have also decreased a lot. This is not only a sport that helps improve health, but also brings people closer together. So no matter how busy I am, I still arrange time to participate.”

Volleyball also helps improve agility, agility, and flexibility. Tran Thi Hong Nhung (Phu Tan district) shared: “The ball is made of rubber, so players can easily handle it gently, gracefully, and flexibly. In particular, serving, juggling, and spiking the ball do not require much effort and do not hurt the hands. After practicing volleyball for a while, my health and physical strength have increased a lot.” In addition, playing volleyball also helps players reduce stress and fatigue.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Nhi (Long Xuyen City) shared: “This is the first time I have played volleyball. Playing volleyball feels light and fun, very suitable for women and the elderly. This sport helps to relax the mind and improve health.”

Currently, volleyball is a sport that is spreading in the mass physical education and sports movement, in many localities, agencies and units in the province. Volleyball has also become a competition from the grassroots to the provincial level. In the framework of sports tournaments, sports festivals, festivals, and sports congresses at all levels, in addition to other competitions, volleyball is included by many sectors and localities, enriching physical education and sports activities at the grassroots level, contributing to the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".
