U23 Vietnam defender reveals special request from coach Kim Sang Sik
Center back Pham Ly Duc said coach Kim Sang Sik set very high demands for U23 Vietnam at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

On the evening of July 15, U23 Vietnam entered the second training session in Jakarta (Indonesia), continuing to complete preparations for the opening match against U23 Laos in Group B, 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship. The training session took place at Madya Stadium, located near Bung Karno Stadium and not far from the team's base. However, due to the frequent traffic congestion in Jakarta, it took U23 Vietnam quite a while to get to the training ground. Defender Pham Ly Duc said: "The team spirit is very good. Everyone is determined in every training session. The coaching staff always reminds everyone to take care of their health and ensure the best physical condition before entering the tournament." Ly Duc also highly appreciated the quality of training conditions in Indonesia, and affirmed that the whole team is aiming for the highest goal of winning the championship. “Coach Kim Sang Sik always requires each player to enter the field with more than 100% spirit and determination. Although there are times when we have slight pain on the training ground, with the encouragement of the coaching staff, we always try to stand up and continue to practice non-stop. The championship in 2022 and 2023 is a source of pride and motivation for the whole team to strive to defend the achievements this season. The players are quite comfortable and do not face much pressure,” Ly Duc shared. U23 Vietnam actively practices. U23 Vietnam is becoming more and more united after more than two weeks of training together, from coordination skills, movement to communication on the field have all improved significantly. Besides, the experience of playing in V-League of many players is also considered a big advantage when entering this year's tournament. The amount of exercise in U23 Vietnam has increased significantly compared to the first training session, focusing on group coordination, state transition as well as checking and reviewing the squad in preparation for the match with U23 Laos. The opening match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Laos will take place at 5:00 p.m. on July 19 at Patriot Stadium, Bekasi, Indonesia.
