Be open to newcomers

From the beginning of July 2025, more than 1,500 officials, civil servants and public employees from Quang Tri (old) moved to the center of the new Quang Tri province to serve their work after the province's merger. These people will live and work in the new land for many more years, possibly the rest of their lives.

Among the officials, civil servants and public employees who had to move to Dong Hoi ward to work, many had worked for nearly 20 years, but there were also those who were new to the profession. The common point was that they all had a stable life in the old province. However, due to their duties in the new situation, these officials, civil servants and public employees had to accept leaving the place where they had a stable life to start over.

Be open to newcomers

Many people, after many years of saving to build a new house with the smell of paint still lingering, now have to reluctantly leave to move to a new land to rent or live in public housing. Meanwhile, the number of public housing only meets nearly half of the demand, which means that many people have to find their own place to rent with many difficulties and shortages. Many people have to leave their children with their grandparents to go to work far away, accepting that they cannot be close to their children every day...

Putting aside all worries, every cadre, civil servant and public employee always determines the spirit of dedication to the country, because "more than ever, the country needs us to do all the best for development" as Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra once said.

In order for cadres and civil servants to get used to their new workplace and be ready to sacrifice and contribute to the development of the country, it is necessary to have the sharing and help of local cadres and people. Every act of support from the people is a great source of encouragement and sharing for newcomers.

Street food stalls should have affordable prices so that new residents can make a choice that fits their budget and income. Boarding houses should not increase prices to reduce the economic pressure on officials, civil servants, and public employees from the old province. Services and goods should not be “overpriced” to share the initial difficulties, helping newcomers feel that this land is a worthy place to settle down for a long time and devote their efforts to building the new province.

In addition, the working environment in a strange land is also a big "concern" for cadres, civil servants and public employees from the old Quang Tri province to the new province. Traveling more than 100km from the old place, newcomers must start to get used to the working environment and new colleagues. Initial confusion is inevitable. Therefore, the openness, closeness, mutual support, tolerance and enthusiastic guidance of everyone bring a warm feeling, creating more positive energy for newcomers to make more efforts.

Quang Binh and Quang Tri are two lands that have been closely linked in history for a long time. The name “Binh Tri” that people often mention dates back to 1890 under the Nguyen Dynasty. In 1975, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces merged together once more, together with Thua Thien to form Binh Tri Thien province.

It was not until 1989 that Binh Tri Thien province was split into three provinces: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue. Because of that connection, the people of the two provinces have long had similarities and cultural ties. The way of living, the way of speaking, and the behavior of the people of the two old provinces of Quang Tri and Quang Binh all have many similarities.

Historically, both Quang Binh and Quang Tri played an important role in protecting the southern border of Dai Viet during the Le Dynasty, and were strategic gateways during the resistance against the French and Americans. In particular, during the resistance war against the Americans, these two provinces were on the front line, a fierce battle zone with many sacrifices and losses, and were also an important rear base for the North.

When the two provinces merge, the biggest goal will be to build Quang Tri province into a new growth pole of the North Central region. From two into one, besides favorable factors, facing difficulties at the beginning is inevitable.

However, the staff, civil servants, public employees and people of the two old provinces will join hands to build the new province to achieve the set goals. The solidarity of the present is the first and most important key to all future successes.

And "opening up" at this time is the way for the team of cadres, civil servants and public employees of the province to lay the first bricks to build a house of solidarity.
