Be open to newcomers.

From the beginning of July 2025, more than 1,500 officials, civil servants, and public employees from the former Quang Tri province will move to the center of the new Quang Tri province to serve in the merged province. These people will live and work in the new land for many more years, possibly even the rest of their lives.

Among the officials and civil servants who had to relocate to Dong Hoi ward for work, many had nearly 20 years of experience, while others were new to the profession. The common thread was that they all had stable lives in their old province. However, due to the demands of the new situation, these officials and civil servants had to accept leaving their stable lives to start over.

Be open to newcomers.

Many people, after years of saving to build a brand-new house still smelling of fresh paint, are now reluctantly leaving to move to a new place to live in rented accommodation or government housing. Meanwhile, the number of government housing units only meets about half of the demand, meaning that many people have to find their own rented accommodation, facing countless difficulties and shortages. Many also have to send their children to live with grandparents while they work far away, accepting that they cannot be close to their children every day to raise them...

Putting aside personal concerns, every official and civil servant is determined to dedicate themselves to the country, because "more than ever, the country needs us to do everything we can for its development," as Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra once said.

To help officials and civil servants adapt to their new workplaces and be ready to make sacrifices and dedicate themselves to the country's development, the sharing and assistance of local officials and people are essential. Every act of support from the people is a great source of encouragement and understanding for newcomers.

Affordable eateries should offer reasonable prices to provide new residents with a suitable balance between cost and income. Rental prices should not increase to alleviate the economic burden on officials and employees from the old province. Services and goods should not be overpriced to share the initial difficulties, helping newcomers feel that this land is a worthy place to settle down and contribute to the development of the new province.

Furthermore, the unfamiliar working environment is also a significant challenge for officials and civil servants from the former Quang Tri province who move to the new province. Having traveled over 100km from their old location, these newcomers must begin to adapt to the work environment and new colleagues. Initial awkwardness is inevitable. Therefore, openness, friendliness, mutual support, consideration, and dedicated guidance from everyone create a warm feeling and provide positive energy, encouraging newcomers to strive harder.

Quang Binh and Quang Tri are two regions that have been closely linked throughout history. The name "Binh Tri," as commonly used by the people, dates back to 1890 during the Nguyen Dynasty. In 1975, Quang Binh and Quang Tri provinces merged once again, along with Thua Thien province, to form Binh Tri Thien province.

It wasn't until 1989 that Binh Tri Thien province was divided into three provinces: Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Thua Thien Hue. Because of this connection, the people of the two provinces have long shared many similarities and cultural ties. Their customs, lifestyles, ways of speaking, and behavior are quite similar.

Historically, both Quang Binh and Quang Tri played crucial roles in protecting the southern border of Dai Viet during the Le Dynasty, serving as strategic gateways during the resistance against the French and Americans. Particularly during the war against the Americans, these two provinces were located on the front lines, experiencing fierce fighting with significant casualties, while also serving as an important rear base for the North.

When the two provinces merge, the biggest goal will be to develop Quang Tri province into a new growth hub for the North Central region. Going from two to one, alongside favorable factors, facing difficulties at the beginning is inevitable.

However, the officials, civil servants, and people of the two former provinces will work together to build the new province and achieve the set goals. The unity of the present is the first and most important key to all future success.

And this act of "opening up" is the way for the provincial officials and civil servants to lay the first bricks in building a house of unity.
