RT reported that in a statement on June 1, the Russian National Investigative Committee said that the two bridges that recently collapsed were sabotaged and that criminal cases have been opened in connection with the bridge collapse.
The agency added that representatives of the Investigation Committee are working at the scene of the incident to determine all the surrounding circumstances leading to the tragedy.
On the night of May 31, a bridge collapsed onto a train carrying 388 passengers moving below in the Bryansk region, killing seven people and injuring 71 others.
Hours later, early on June 1, a railway bridge collapsed, causing a freight train to derail, injuring the train driver and two others.
"A railway bridge in the region collapsed as a freight train was passing over it. Some carriages fell onto the highway running under the bridge, while most of the train remained on the tracks. The front of the train caught fire but the fire was quickly extinguished," said Kursk's acting governor, Aleksandr Khinshteyn.
Speaking about the train derailment that caused many casualties in the Bryansk region, Russian Senator Andrey Klishas blamed Kiev and called Ukraine "a land without legitimate government or law".
