Accordingly, the Quang Nam Province Integrated Adaptive Development Project was approved in Decision No. 574, dated March 14, 2024. The goal is to increase access to adaptive infrastructure services and enhance capacity for planning and managing adaptive development to natural disaster risks in project areas.

The project is assigned to the Management Board of Quang Nam Province Traffic Construction Investment Project as the investor. The aim is to enhance connectivity, remove infrastructure obstacles of key coastal economic zones, as well as coastal residential and tourist areas, creating a smooth and synchronous traffic system, contributing to socio -economic development.

Deputy Director of the Department of Transport - Mr. Tran Ngoc Thanh said that the completed project will improve the inland waterway transport system, enhance flood drainage in the Truong Giang river basin, support flood prevention in Tam Ky area, serve people's lives, tourism and economic development in the area. At the same time, it will contribute to reducing pollution and environmental degradation caused by nature and humans, contributing to promoting economic development.

The project will also improve the capacity of fishing boats to anchor and shelter from storms in the Cua Dai (Hoi An) and Cua Lo (Nui Thanh) areas in the event that Cua Dai or Cua Lo areas are silted up and boats cannot enter or exit. The project creates a premise for completing the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone according to the plan; as a basis for studying the flood drainage plan for Tam Ky City across the Truong Giang River.

Implementing this project, the Truong Giang River, from An Lac junction (Cua Dai) to Cua Lo (An Hoa Bay), 60km long, will be dredged; the channel will be 30m wide and 2.3m deep; ensuring effective exploitation for ships with a tonnage of up to 100 tons traveling in 2 lanes.

Tam Ky City Flood Drainage Complex will build a drainage canal and works on the canal connecting from Song Dam Lake to Truong Giang River, 2.38km long; the canal bottom width is 50m.

On the Truong Giang River, there are 6 new bridges (Binh Duong, Hung My, Binh Nam, Tinh Thuy, Tam Thanh, Tam Tien bridges) built according to the plan and 1 completed residential bridge, ensuring technical standards.

“Integrated adaptive development of Quang Nam province” is a group A project, which is very important in realizing the provincial planning, from waterway traffic (dredging the Truong Giang River), road traffic (bridge over the Truong Giang River), to agriculture and rural development (flood drainage in Tam Ky city).

When completed, the project will have a huge impact on the Eastern localities, from Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh, Nui Thanh to the provincial center of Tam Ky.

The total investment of the project is up to more than 2,722 billion VND (ODA loan from WB is more than 1,838 billion VND, counterpart capital is more than 884 billion VND), implemented for the period 2022 - 2027, proving the scale and importance of this project.
