On the evening of May 28, the ASEAN All Stars team defeated Manchester United Club (Man United) 1-0 in a friendly match in Malaysia.

Speaking after the match, coach Kim Sang Sik could not hide his joy. He said: "I am very happy to have won against Man United today. My players played a great match even though the team only had 2 days of training."

Coach Kim Sang Sik said that not being in good physical condition is part of the reason why Man United cannot show their true form.

He said: "Man United is a team with many fans around the world . It is a great honor for us to face such a team. However, perhaps due to the long distance, the different weather and cuisine, they did not play at their best today.

However, this is still a strong team. And today's match will help Southeast Asian players a lot in learning and approaching world-class football."

Evaluating the match further, coach Kim Sang Sik could not hide his regret when his team missed the opportunity to score more goals.

The Korean coach said: "We had the chance to score more goals against Man United but failed. This is football and scoring against a top club in the world is not easy.

However, one goal was enough for us to win. Today's victory moment was really wonderful and I will never forget it. I am very satisfied with the whole team."

Coach Kim Sang Sik also did not forget to give special praise to Nguyen Hai Long - the midfielder who played outstandingly in the first half before leaving the field in the second half.

He said: "Hai Long had an impressive match even though he only joined the team yesterday. Hai Long's physical strength, spirit and form are very good, not only in this match but also in the Vietnam team. He is a promising talent and hopefully Coach Amorim can keep an eye on Hai Long."

Vietnam team actively prepares for match against Malaysia

Explaining the decision to give the captain's armband to Malaysia's striker Sergio Aguero, coach Kim Sang Sik said: "He plays an important role in boosting the team's morale.

Obviously, this is a player who can be a threat to the Vietnamese team in the upcoming match against Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup on June 10. We must prepare to achieve the best result against the host Malaysia."
