Coach Kim Sang-sik aims to win the Southeast Asian championship with U23 Vietnam

VHO - The Vietnam U23 team is preparing to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship in Jakarta (Indonesia) to defend the championship after winning both 2022 and 2023.

On the afternoon of July 15 in Jakarta, the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship held a press conference for the teams in Group B.

Speaking at the press conference, head coach Kim Sang-sik shared his views on the goals and evaluation of the opponents in this year's tournament.

Coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized that to continue the success of the last two seasons, U23 Vietnam must compete with the spirit of considering each match as a final.

“The players and I always practice hard, practice tactics and ensure good physical fitness.

Every upcoming match is a final. I always set the highest goals and spirit to win each match," said the Korean strategist.

Evaluating the competitors in the tournament, coach Kim Sang-sik frankly mentioned U23 Thailand and U23 Indonesia.

Mr. Kim shared: “U23 Thailand is a very strong team, the players have good individual skills. U23 Indonesia has impressive speed and physical strength. These are two formidable teams, capable of competing for the championship.”

However, the head coach of U23 Vietnam affirmed that he would not underestimate any opponent: "That is the best way. The players and I hope to experience many things at the international level, different from domestic level."

Closing the press conference, coach Kim Sang-sik affirmed the championship goal of U23 Vietnam: "We set the highest goal in this tournament. The performance of the young players depends on their spirit and careful preparation. For me, every opponent deserves respect and needs to be carefully prepared."

In the group stage, U23 Vietnam is in Group B with U23 Laos and U23 Cambodia, competing on July 19 and 22 respectively.

With two consecutive championships in 2022 and 2023, U23 Vietnam is expected to continue to successfully defend the title in the regional arena.
