On the afternoon of October 17, Coach Mai Duc Chung announced the list of the Vietnamese women's team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games later this year in Thailand.
According to plan, the Vietnamese women's team with 27 players will officially gather from October 21 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center ( Hanoi ).
Notably, in this training session, there will be no coach Doan Thi Kim Chi, goalkeeper coach Nguyen Thi Kim Hong and players from the HCMC Women's Club - the team that just won the national championship for the 7th consecutive time and the 14th championship of the team.
The reason is that Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club is focusing on competing in the AFC Champions League Women's 2025-2026 in mid-November in Ho Chi Minh City.
Coach Mai Duc Chung continues to be assisted by experienced coaches such as Doan Minh Hai, young coach and former national player Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, fitness coach Cedric Serge Christian Roger and a doctor.

Sharing about personnel issues before the training session, Coach Mai Duc Chung said this is the third training session in 2025 to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. The Vietnamese women's team also has many promising young faces who have performed well in recent tournaments.
He said: "We hope that you and your sisters will practice your best to strive to be on the list to attend the upcoming SEA Games; in the context that veteran players are getting older and always want to give up their positions to talented young players.
The coaching staff also hopes that the young players will progress quickly to catch up, and will always create conditions for them to strive."
Coach Mai Duc Chung also affirmed that the goal of the Vietnamese women's team at the upcoming 33rd SEA Games is still to win the highest position.
He said: "We all know that other countries also invest a lot in their teams, such as naturalizing many athletes and causing difficulties for us because Vietnamese people are short and weak. But in return, we have spirit, will, agility and dexterity.
The Vietnam women's team continues to receive many opportunities from the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation to compete and train abroad, to compete with better teams so that we can learn and gain experience."
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will gather on the morning of October 21 and have their first practice session on the afternoon of the same day. On November 20, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will go to Japan for training and are expected to have 3 friendly matches with Japanese women's clubs.
