According to a VNA reporter in Indonesia, speaking at the forum, Dr. Nguyen Phuc Nam, Deputy Director of the Asia-Africa Market Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), emphasized that Indonesia is currently Vietnam's second largest trade partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and vice versa, Vietnam is also Indonesia's fourth largest partner in the region.
Currently, Indonesian enterprises have invested nearly 700 million USD in Vietnam, mainly in the fields of food processing, energy, construction materials, logistics and retail. In the opposite direction, the Indonesian market is also increasingly attractive to Vietnamese enterprises, especially in the fields of information technology, consumer goods and high-tech agriculture .
Mr. Nguyen Phuc Nam affirmed: “The potential for cooperation between the two sides is still very large. Creating more opportunities for businesses to connect and seek cooperation opportunities is an effective direction, especially in areas of mutual interest such as agriculture, digital economy , energy, high-tech industry, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment”.
The forum is expected to create more motivation for Vietnamese enterprises to expand cooperation and exploit the potential of the Indonesian market. Thereby, contributing to the common goal of promoting exports, investment and strengthening key manufacturing industries in the ASEAN bloc.
Sharing at the event, Mr. Agung Subekti, Senior Manager of Hetzer Medical Indonesia, said: "We participated in the event with the desire to develop the market internationally. Currently, we only provide domestic products and hope this forum will help increase sales, bringing our brand to the global market. Our main products are medical equipment such as masks, stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors and medical head covers."
On the Vietnamese side, Ms. Mai Thi Kim Phung, representative of Huy Van Cashew Nut Import-Export Company (Binh Phuoc), said that Indonesia is a very potential market for both raw cashew nut supply and retail market with a population of nearly 300 million people. Ms. Phung hopes to find importers for roasted and fried nuts, and at the same time look for partners to supply raw cashew nuts from Indonesia.
West Java province is the center of many key industries of Indonesia such as textiles, footwear, and is also a place with strengths in creative design and fashion. According to statistics, this province currently contributes about 23% of Indonesia's total export turnover to Vietnam, with prominent items such as medical equipment, household goods, agricultural and aquatic products, processed foods, dried fruits and spices.
