The sand and gravel mining project in the area of Ha Chau and Nga My communes (formerly), now belonging to Diem Thuy commune after the merger, was licensed by the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province in 2018 with an area of more than 39 hectares, of which nearly 30 hectares are allowed for exploitation.

However, due to concerns about negative impacts on the environment and agricultural production, people in the area have not agreed for many years.
