Coach Kim Sang-sik shocks HAGL star, Van Quyet returns

At noon on October 2, the list of the Vietnamese team for the October training session according to the FIFA Days schedule was announced.

In addition to the veterans, coach Kim Sang-sik has called up many young and fresh faces for this training session. Among them are goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien and striker Nguyen Quoc Viet (HAGL). Both of them have played for U.23 Vietnam before and are playing steadily with HAGL, helping the mountain town team to top the V-League table after 3 rounds.

Goalkeeper Trung Kien is the only goalkeeper in the V-League to keep a clean sheet since the beginning of the tournament, while Quoc Viet, once the "king of the youth tournament", was recruited by HAGL and is gradually asserting himself in attack.

Young players who were called up by coach Philippe Troussier such as Giap Tuan Duong, Nguyen Dinh Bac, Nguyen Thai Son and Khuat Van Khang were also called up for this training session. In addition, Bui Vi Hao and Nguyen Van Truong, two young stars who were trusted by coach Kim Sang-sik in the previous training session, were also called up.

This training session welcomed the return of Nguyen Van Quyet, captain of Hanoi FC. The midfielder born in 1991 has scored 2 goals since the beginning of the tournament against Binh Dinh FC and Ho Chi Minh City FC, directly bringing 6 points to the capital team. Van Quyet used to play for the national team regularly 10 years ago, then had difficulty finding a place when coach Park Hang-seo took over. Then, Mr. Kim Sang-sik decided to once again trust in the veteran's ability.

The Vietnamese team will play friendly matches with India and Lebanon in an international friendly tournament held in Nam Dinh from October 10 to October 15. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will gather on October 5, before practicing and moving to Thien Truong Stadium to compete.
