On the afternoon of August 18, the Vietnamese women's team had their final training session in Hai Phong to prepare for the third-place match of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship against Thailand. Before the training session, head coach Mai Duc Chung took a few minutes to encourage his players.
"Fans watching the match against U23 Australia also felt quite sorry. You guys played at 150% but the opponent was too strong. Although we played better in the second half, football is like that, with high determination but winning depends on many other aspects.
We still have the third place match, before the training session I also reminded the whole team to focus on activities and practice well for tomorrow's match.
"I hope everyone will fight with all their might and the highest spirit to celebrate the two great national holidays of August 19 and September 2," said Mr. Mai Duc Chung.
Evaluating the opponent Thailand - the team that Vietnam women's team defeated in the group stage, coach Mai Duc Chung said that confidence is necessary but cannot be subjective.
He also promised that he and his students would beat Thailand in the final match.
"That confidence is part of it, but we have to learn from the mistakes in previous matches. We have pointed out the pros and cons to you and hope that in this match we can limit mistakes to continue to win," said Mr. Chung.
The third-place match of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship between the Vietnamese and Thai women's teams will take place at 4:30 p.m. on August 19.
