On the morning of July 28, coach Mai Duc Chung and captain Huynh Nhu attended sideline activities of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and local organizing committees to respond to the draw ceremony for the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship (Asian Women's Cup) Finals in Australia.
Specifically, the two teachers and students attended the event to welcome the teams and took souvenir photos at Hickson Road Reserve outdoor park with the presence of New South Wales state leaders and local organizers in the morning.
The same afternoon will be the day of photo and video shooting at the Australian stadium to promote the tournament.
The draw for the tournament will take place on the evening of July 29 at Sydney City Hall, New South Wales. Immediately after the draw, representatives of the Vietnamese women’s team and other women’s teams will continue to participate in media activities, take group photos and answer quick interviews.
The 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals are scheduled to take place in early March with the participation of 12 teams including host Australia, Bangladesh, China, Taiwan, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, India, Iran, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
The six best teams from the 2026 Women's Asian Cup will qualify for the 2027 Women's World Cup. The two losing teams from the play-offs will advance to the intercontinental play-offs to qualify for Brazil.
The Vietnamese women's team is currently in its second week of training in Quang Ninh. This is also the team's last week of training here before moving to Hai Phong on July 30 to participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship.
Coach Mai Duc Chung and Huynh Nhu are expected to return to Vietnam on July 30 and will join the team in Hai Phong, ready for the goal of conquering the 2025 Southeast Asian women's championship.
