"Up to this point, we have not received any offer or contract from the CFA," Chosun Biz quoted a representative of coach Shin Tae-yong on the morning of June 17.
The representative also stated that Coach Shin Tae-yong is busy with various other commitments, including his position as Vice President of the Korea Football Association (KFA). There, he works alongside Park Hang-seo, the former coach of the Vietnamese national team. Both are expected to contribute their international experience to the sustainable development of Korean football.
In addition to his work at the KFA, after returning to South Korea, Coach Shin Tae Yong was appointed General Manager at Seongnam FC. Furthermore, he also runs a school football system bearing his name in Indonesia.
Despite the busy schedule of the strategist born in 1970, Shin's representative still left open the possibility of him leading the Chinese national team. "If we receive an official invitation from the CFA, negotiations could begin. But so far, there has been no concrete contact," the representative added.
Previously, Chinese and Southeast Asian media outlets simultaneously reported that coach Shin Tae-yong was a strong candidate to replace Branko Ivankovic, who was recently dismissed by the CFA after China's failure in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
