Before the match with the young team from the archipelago, coach Troussier affirmed that U22 Vietnam was completely ready to get a ticket to the final.
“Before SEA Games 32, U22 Vietnam's goal was to reach the semi-finals and we did it.
In the last two SEA Games, Vietnam won the gold medal, so we have the responsibility to protect this position for Vietnamese football. That is our ultimate goal.
“There are no weak teams in the semi-finals. No match is easy because every team wants to win the highest position,” said coach Troussier.
The French coach said that the SEA Games is a tournament for young players and the team with more courage and confidence will win.
“Of course, in football, there will be winners and losers. In any match, the winning team will be the team that proves its mettle, not only in terms of results on the field but also in terms of tactics. That is what U22 Vietnam is preparing for the semi-final match.
The U22 Vietnam squad has about 60-70% of players from the U20 age group. But they are all very confident.
Of course, that doesn't need to be expressed through my words, but it comes from the determination of the whole team. This is the key to our victory.
We are ready to accept the challenge. This will be a beautiful semi-final match with U22 Vietnam,” said the French coach.
Besides positive reviews about his students, coach Troussier also pointed out the weaknesses of the red team in this year's tournament.
“More than half of the U22 Vietnam team is U20. They all have talent and potential, but at that age the players lack practical experience and courage, which leads to tension.
U22 Indonesia is very strong, has reasonable playing style. So we have to try our best.
We will have a beautiful, quality semi-final and that is good for the development of Southeast Asian football," said coach Troussier.
According to the schedule, the match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Indonesia will take place at 4:00 p.m. on May 13.
