Vietnam volleyball team coach reveals secret to defeating Korea

" Right when entering the match, Lam Oanh had psychological problems. Later, the coaching staff encouraged her and Oanh also listened more to organize situations on the field. With a tense match like this, 1 to 2 points can be the difference. Therefore, we cannot pass the ball on inspiration, but must depend on the time and observe the opponent's defense.

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team came from behind to win against the Korean team in the second match of the 19th Asian Games. The team lost the first two sets, and coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet had to make some adjustments - including the playing style of setter Lam Oanh - to optimize the team's attacks. Thanks to this timely change, the Vietnamese girls won the next three sets.

Besides improving the second pass, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet also highly appreciated the change in the first pass of his student.

" After we knew we would meet Korea again at ASIAD 19, the coaching staff and athletes determined that the first thing to do was to improve the first pass. The second was the mental aspect. When we do well in the first pass, the team's pieces will be formed and more cohesive. In today's match, in the first half, we did not do well in the first pass. Later, when the players adjusted, the results were better, " the 56-year-old coach shared.

With the victory over South Korea, the Vietnamese team topped Group C. The organizers selected the top two teams from each group to enter the second round. In this round, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team were paired with the teams from Group A - most likely China and North Korea.

" After defeating South Korea, we have half of the tickets to the round of 4. We need to defeat one of the two opponents, the North Korean team or the Chinese team. China is definitely at a higher level, so we will focus all our efforts on the next match with North Korea. They are building a young squad and have a good striker who scored 30 points in the opening match. Therefore, we must try to come up with good tactics ," said Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet.

The matches in round 2 of women's volleyball at ASIAD 19 will take place on October 4.
