Do tutoring businesses need to hang signs?

Tutoring activities inside and outside of schools are gradually becoming more organized and complying with regulations set forth by the Ministry of Education and Training . However, many people wonder whether tutoring businesses need to hang signs or not?

Regulations on hanging signs

According to current legal regulations, there is no requirement for businesses to hang signs at their headquarters. However, if they want to hang signs, tutoring businesses can hang signs and comply with advertising laws.

Specifically, Clause 4, Article 34 of the 2012 Advertising Law stipulates that the signboard of a business household must contain the following contents: name of the direct management agency (if any); name of the production and business establishment in accordance with the business registration certificate; address, telephone number. The writing on the advertising signboard must be in Vietnamese.

For horizontal signs, the maximum height is 2m, the length must not exceed the width of the house front. For vertical signs, the maximum width is 1m, the maximum height is 4m but must not exceed the height of the floor where the sign is placed.

Note that signs must not block emergency exits or fire escapes; must not encroach on sidewalks or roads, affecting public traffic.

Along with that, the location, site, construction area, installation and management of outdoor advertising media must comply with the following requirements:

Ensure urban aesthetics;
Ensure traffic visibility, do not affect traffic activities and do not obscure the view of traffic signs;
Ensure fire safety, evacuation requirements, rescue requirements, construction structure, social order and safety;
Ensure normal production and living activities of people and safety of life.

Tutoring businesses must have names that comply with regulations.

Article 88, Decree 01/2021/ND-CP clearly stipulates the naming of business households. Specifically, business households have their own names, which include two components in the order of the phrase "Business household" and the proper name of the business household. The proper name is written in letters of the Vietnamese alphabet, the letters F, J, Z, W, and can be accompanied by numbers and symbols.

At the same time, it is not allowed to use words or symbols that violate the historical, cultural, ethical and traditional customs of the nation to name a business household. A business household also cannot use the phrase “company” or “enterprise” to name the business household.

The business household’s proper name must not coincide with the business household’s proper name registered within the district level. Therefore, the way to name a tutoring business household must ensure the following requirements:

The name must include the phrase "Business Household".
Must have a proper name written in Vietnamese letters, F, J, Z, W, can be accompanied by numbers and symbols.
Do not use words or symbols that violate the historical, cultural, ethical and traditional customs of the nation to name proper names.
Do not use the phrases "company" or "enterprise" to name a business household.
Not identical to the proper name of a business household registered within the district level.
