A video clip documenting the residency specialization selection event for medical students at Hanoi Medical University has gone viral on social media for hours. One detail that caught the attention of netizens was that the new doctor, number 61, named Nguyen Dinh Hoang, did not choose any specialization.

Newly appointed doctor Nguyen Dinh Hoang, born in 2001, is a student of the 50th cohort at Hanoi Medical University. Dr. Hoang is not an unfamiliar face to those interested in education .
In 2019, Nguyen Dinh Hoang gained fame when he became the first student from the former Yen Bai province (now Lao Cai) to win a silver medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad.

For three years of high school, Nguyen Dinh Hoang was a chemistry student at Nguyen Tat Thanh Specialized High School.
In 11th grade, Hoang skipped grades and won first prize in the national excellent student competition in Chemistry. In 12th grade, the male student continued to win first prize, then passed the second selection round to become one of the four contestants representing Vietnam at IChO 2019.
Hoang entered the Medical Faculty of Hanoi Medical University through direct admission, fulfilling his dream of becoming a doctor.
Last August, Nguyen Dinh Hoang was accepted into both the residency programs of Hanoi Medical University (ranked 61st) and VinUni University (ranked 1st). The new doctor decided to choose the Anesthesia and Resuscitation residency program at VinUni University.
