Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu - Rector of Hanoi Medical University spoke at the ceremony celebrating 30 years of Nursing training, 25 years of Medical Laboratory Technology training and 15 years of Advanced Nursing Program training.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu - Rector of Hanoi Medical University emphasized: "Today, we gather here to attend a very special ceremony, '3 in 1', celebrating three programs of the University from the past 15 to 30 years. On behalf of the University's leaders and generations of students, we would like to thank the first people who had the idea, laid the first bricks, and overcame the biggest difficulties to build and develop these programs".

In the 30-year journey of training Nursing, Hanoi Medical University is a pioneer in the country, starting to train part-time Bachelor of Nursing since 1985 and officially enrolling the first regular Bachelor of University in 1995.

At the ceremony, Master Pham Duc Muc - President of the Vietnam Nursing Association gave profound assessments of the historical role of Hanoi Medical University. He emphasized that the decision to open the Bachelor of Nursing program in 1995 by the University was a revolutionary turning point.

"For 50 years (1945-1995), the Vietnamese nursing industry only stopped at intermediate training. The establishment of the Bachelor's program at Hanoi Medical University has officially ended half a century of 'marking time', opening up career light for tens of thousands of nurses," affirmed Master Pham Duc Muc.

According to the Association's Chairman, thanks to this pioneering work, Vietnam has been able to fill the training gap compared to other countries in the region (for example, Thailand has had bachelors since 1975). More importantly, the School has contributed to the formation of a team of true "nursing intellectuals". From a "blank" place with highly qualified human resources, the entire industry now has nearly 50% of its human resources with college or university degrees, completely changing the quality of patient care.

The breakthrough in quality and international integration was marked in 2010 with the implementation of the Advanced Bachelor of Nursing program. This is the first and only program in the health sciences sector in Vietnam taught in English, imported from CSU Long Beach University (USA) and implemented according to the high-quality human resource training project of the Ministry of Education and Training .

Delegates attended the Ceremony to celebrate three important milestones in health science training at Hanoi Medical University.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu shared: The Advanced Nursing Bachelor Program has now become the brand of Hanoi Medical University. The clearest proof is the ability to integrate internationally, when all graduates are welcomed at major hospitals, central and international hospitals.

In particular, there are now nearly 300 students who have established a nursing community of Hanoi Medical University in the Federal Republic of Germany, all of whom have passed the official practice certificate exam and are working at major hospitals. "This is a vivid and real proof of the international integration of teachers and students of Hanoi Medical University. This achievement is the great effort of the entire Nursing Faculty, generations of leaders and especially students," affirmed Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu.

Along with the Nursing Department, Hanoi Medical University is proud to celebrate 25 years of training in Medical Laboratory Technology. Since the early 2000s, the University has pioneered the training of regular Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology, meeting the urgent need for high-quality human resources - those who lay the foundation for accuracy in diagnosis and treatment.

The Faculty of Medical Technology was established in 2010. By 2017, the Faculty had completed the continuous training system from undergraduate to postgraduate level when officially enrolling students for the Master of Medical Laboratory Technology program, affirming its position as the leading medical technology human resource training center in the country.

Substantive development and position in the top 4 Vietnamese universities on international rankings

The ceremony took place in the context of Hanoi Medical University making great strides in terms of scale and quality. The President of Hanoi Medical University provided impressive figures: the number of staff has increased from less than 1,000 to more than 3,000 people, the number of students has increased from less than 10,000 to 16,000 people. Notably, to date, the University has developed 15 undergraduate programs and 264 graduate programs.

In terms of international rankings, the University has achieved great success when it first registered for rankings in 2024 and 2025. Specifically, Hanoi Medical University was ranked 801-1,000 among the world's best universities.

The President of Hanoi Medical University presented certificates of merit and rewards to 42 individuals with outstanding achievements and great contributions to the training activities of Nursing and Medical Laboratory Technology.

In the Health Sciences sector, the University is ranked 501-600 among the world's best universities, and is the only university in the Health Sciences sector in Vietnam to be ranked and in the Top 4 highest-ranked Vietnamese universities.

Notably, among the ranking indexes, the Training Quality Index of Hanoi Medical University is rated as the highest among all ranked Vietnamese universities.

"All of this shows that we are doing very substantial things and our School is developing in a very substantial way. In particular, there are very important contributions from the three training programs: Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Medical Testing and Bachelor of Advanced Program", Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Tu concluded.

The celebration ceremony welcomed representatives of partners, practicing hospitals, managers, generations of dedicated lecturers, and a large number of students and alumni, and pledged that Hanoi Medical University will continuously improve its quality and continue to provide high-quality medical human resources with good medical ethics and professionalism.
