The article "Only medical schools will be able to train doctors, only law schools will be able to train law graduates" published on Tuoi Tre Online on November 25 received a lot of feedback from readers.
Many readers have expressed their agreement with the above policy, believing that this is a reasonable decision to improve the quality of human resource training. However, there are also additional opinions on this issue.
15 points passed, 28 points failed medical university?
VT readers commented that "the decision to allow medical schools to train in the medical field is very correct and timely in order to improve the quality of medical training."
This reader believes that each region needs to build a large-scale medical school to train human resources for the entire region. For example: develop and expand Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy to train human resources for the Mekong Delta region and build schools for the Southeast, Central Highlands, Northwest regions...
"Such regulations are standard," wrote one reader. Readers Nguyen Thuan Thien and Minh Kute "agree with the opinion that only medical schools are allowed to train doctors, not to let it spread."
Meanwhile, reader Lai Quang Tan thinks the above policy is "too good, too right".
Many other readers believe that the quality of university education should be tightened. Reader Doan Trong Thuy hopes that the authorities "correct this problem as soon as possible!"
Meanwhile, reader Kim said that "training in other fields should not be allowed" and "hopes that the authorities will make changes and pay attention to supervision".
This reader also pointed out the absurdity: "There is no such thing as an agricultural and forestry school training accountants, an economic school training medicine, a technical school training foreign languages... Please go back to the way it was before and hope to limit medical schools, pedagogical schools, and limit widespread training, especially private universities. The goal is to have fair input and output, not a situation where a place with 15 points passes medical university and a place with 28 points fails medical university."
Claiming to be a medical professional, having studied at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City and graduated more than 10 years ago, Dr. NVT expressed his concern for many doctors graduating later, especially from schools with low admission requirements, while the training process does not guarantee quality.
With the goal of bringing Vietnamese universities to the top of the region and the world, readers of Nguoi Viet Nam believe that when the quality of teaching or input and output is not guaranteed, specialized universities for doctors and law are correct. Therefore, if the discipline of university education is not re-established, the vision of having universities in the top of the region or the world in the next few years is just a dream.
Good students need to invest in appropriate teaching equipment and technology.
However, there are also some additional opinions on this issue. Reader Yen thinks that only medical training should be tightened.
For the law industry, schools with related majors are still allowed to train. For example, the University of Economics can still train bachelors in business law as it is now.
Similarly, reader Hai Phong thinks that it is correct for medical schools to train in medicine, but there are technical universities that train in medical technology, so that university should train them because modern medicine is an interdisciplinary science.
A reader named Nam wondered: So can a university have a law school or a medical school as its member schools? A university may not open its own law or medical school, but can a university establish a member school to teach these majors?
"The government should urgently invest in facilities for Vietnam's top universities. Students who get into medicine and pharmacy or polytechnics are already excellent, but look at how the schools teach. With old and outdated equipment, how can students access technology from businesses and the world?", reader Phuong Dao wondered.
