Rare, high-risk disease
Autoimmune rhabdomyolysis (also known as autoimmune myositis) is a rare disease in which the immune system mistakenly attacks the muscle fibers. Patients gradually lose muscle strength, develop widespread muscle weakness, and in severe cases can affect the respiratory and swallowing muscles, limiting mobility and daily activities.

According to international recommendations (EULAR/ACR 2017), the main treatment currently is to control inflammation, suppress the immune system and closely monitor the progression. In addition to drug treatment, specialized organizations also emphasize the need to implement parallel rehabilitation to maintain muscle strength, limit muscle atrophy and improve mobility by physical therapy methods for patients.
Spinal decompression – a rehabilitation method from traditional medicine
In the treatment practice at the Lao Nha Que Traditional Medicine Clinic, the spinal decompression method is a physical therapy method using massage techniques, acupressure, and therapeutic movements combined with the use of a set of 3 herbal massage support products according to the principles of traditional medicine that have been applied to a number of patients with autoimmune rhabdomyolysis. This method focuses on clearing circulation, increasing blood circulation, reducing muscle contractions, increasing muscle tissue nourishment, and supporting the recovery of motor function.

Cases of patients with improved mobility after treatment at the clinic
Mr. K. (1985) was healthy, but within a few days he began to feel unusually tired, weak in all four limbs, and had difficulty walking. Test results later determined that he had rhabdomyolysis, an autoimmune disease that can easily cause symmetrical weakness and can potentially affect swallowing and breathing functions.
During the first days of treatment at the Traditional Medicine Clinic for the Elderly, Mr. K. had to be supported by someone, his voice was weak and his muscle strength was significantly reduced. After receiving spinal decompression therapy combined with appropriate movement instructions, his condition gradually changed. According to the clinic's records, after about 5 sessions, his mobility began to improve, he could walk without support, his posture was straighter and his voice was clear.

Mr. K., a patient with rhabdomyolysis, was treated at the Traditional Medicine Clinic for the Elderly in the Countryside.
According to traditional medicine practitioners at the clinic, spinal decompression helps improve blood circulation, relieves stagnation in the meridians, thereby supporting muscle recovery. This method does not replace basic treatment with modern medicine, but plays an important role in supporting mobility recovery, reducing fatigue and improving quality of life.
Persistence is key in the recovery journey
Mr. K. said that in the early days of treatment, his muscles were still weak and it was very difficult to move. But thanks to following the treatment regimen, combining modern medicine and being closely monitored, his muscle strength gradually improved, helping him stand up and perform basic activities. "The most important thing is not to give up, because the body needs time to adapt and recover," he shared.
At the clinic, doctors believe that the combination of basic treatment from modern medicine and supportive therapy from traditional medicine, along with the patient's cooperative attitude towards treatment, plays an important role in the recovery process.
Recommendations and notes for patients
Experts recommend that patients with rapidly progressing muscle weakness, difficulty getting up from a chair, difficulty lifting their arms, or difficulty swallowing should seek early medical attention for diagnosis. Combining modern medical treatment with rehabilitation therapy such as spinal decompression, breathing exercises, and a proper diet can open up the opportunity for a healthy life for patients with this rare disease.
