Hoa Dinh: "Sweet fruit" from advanced new rural construction

After achieving the new rural standards in 2019, Hoa Dinh commune, Cho Gao district, Tien Giang province has made efforts to improve the quality of the new rural criteria, moving towards building advanced new rural areas as soon as possible. Despite many difficulties, the Party Committee, government, associations and unions of the commune have united, joined hands and worked together in building new rural areas and have reaped the "sweet fruit" of the commune meeting the advanced new rural standards by the end of 2023.

Joy is present in every house, alley, and street, along with the excitement of 2,714 households here as their material and spiritual lives have been improved.

LEVERAGE THE ECONOMY

People in the commune mainly live on agricultural production, there are few businesses operating in the area, so mobilizing people to contribute to support the implementation of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction is facing many difficulties.

The central road of Hoa Dinh commune is invested in spaciously.

However, the commune identified difficulties as the driving force for the entire political system and all classes of people to join in mobilizing all resources to build the new rural area. Identifying economic development as the "key" to implementing the criteria of advanced new rural areas, the commune promoted the transfer of science and technology applications in agricultural production; focused on restructuring the agricultural sector with a focus on mobilizing people to boldly invest in developing key crops and livestock with high economic value and advantages of the commune, such as: coconut, pigs, beef cattle, chickens, goats...

In particular, the commune focuses on organizing production linkages in the direction of GAP, building cooperatives and cooperatives to find markets, promote consumption of coconut and dragon fruit products, and stabilize output for farmers.

In the commune, there are 410 business and service establishments, 2 cooperatives and 3 cooperative groups, these establishments operate stably. At the same time, the commune has built a coconut growing model according to VietGAP standards with a certification code of FAO Certification and Testing Joint Stock Company.

Coconut trees have been granted 3 domestic growing area codes with a total area of 246.86 hectares. The Commune People's Committee has also scanned QR codes to trace the origin of fresh coconut products of Cho Gao Coconut Cooperative. Fresh coconut products of Cho Gao Coconut Cooperative have been certified as 3-star OCOP products.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Phan Quoc Thang commune said that with the viewpoint that building a new rural area must start from developing production, increasing income, improving people's lives, using "people's strength to care for people", the commune always prioritizes developing small-scale handicrafts, transforming the economic structure, especially the structure of crops and livestock, and bringing high-value crops into production.

Evidence of the commune's change is that up to now, the commune's average income per capita has reached about 70 million VND/year, an increase of 24 million VND/person/year compared to 2019; the commune's poor households in 2023 will decrease to 1.47%, the multidimensional poverty rate will be 2.29%.

CRYSTALLIZATION OF "SWEET FRUITS"

After 5 years of building advanced NTM, infrastructure has been gradually invested synchronously. Many infrastructure projects have been invested in construction compared to 2019 (when the commune met NTM standards). Traffic routes in the commune have been invested in construction, renovation, and upgrading according to the plan. The routes are managed, cared for, and flowers and trees are planted by associations and unions to create a rural environmental landscape.

100% of commune roads and roads from the commune center to the district are asphalted. By the end of 2023, the commune has upgraded, repaired, hardened, and concreted 100% of rural roads to be green - clean - beautiful.

Veteran revolutionary cadre Le Minh Duc said that Hoa Dinh has changed a lot. Transportation is convenient, houses are spacious, people are united, close-knit, and enthusiastic about doing business, so life is increasingly prosperous.

Secretary of the Party Cell and Head of My Thanh Hamlet Nguyen Thi Muoi Hai shared that the hamlet and commune are as spacious as they are today thanks to the propaganda of authorities at all levels helping people understand their roles and responsibilities in building advanced new-style rural communes, as well as changing people's awareness and old habits in daily life and production.

People agree and voluntarily participate in renovating houses, auxiliary works, building green fences, developing family economy associated with building green - clean - beautiful model gardens and ensuring environmental sanitation.

Life is constantly improving, people have the conditions to build houses, participate in other activities. There are no more temporary houses or dilapidated houses in the commune. Currently, Hoa Dinh commune has 96.50% of rural houses meeting the standards of the Ministry of Construction, an increase of 2.56% compared to the time of assessment of the commune meeting the NTM standards in 2019. The scale of education and training remains stable, the quality is increasingly improved.

The staff and teachers of schools actively innovate the content and form of teaching to improve the quality of education in the locality. Primary health care for the people has been significantly improved. Cultural - artistic, physical education and sports movements have been responded to and maintained regularly by the people. Local defense - military work, political security, and social order and safety have been maintained.

The values from the commune's advanced NTM construction have crystallized into "sweet fruit", creating a driving force for the people to unite, join hands, and unanimously build Hoa Dinh to become more civilized and modern. Hoa Dinh is the 8th commune out of 18 communes in Cho Gao district to meet the advanced NTM standards, contributing to the district's development to meet the advanced NTM standards by the end of 2024.
