The United States is the largest buyer of agricultural, forestry and fishery products from Vietnam in the first two months of 2024.

Export turnover increased sharply thanks to the increase in all export groups. Contributing to this result were agricultural products of 5.18 billion USD, forestry products of 2.9 billion USD (these two groups increased by nearly 60%), and aquatic products of 1.37 million USD (up 29%).

Most of the key products achieved higher export value than the previous year, such as: wood products 1.68 billion USD (up 59%), coffee 1.38 billion USD (up 85%), vegetables and fruits 970 million USD (up 73%), rice 708 million USD (up 50%), cashew nuts 595 million USD (up 68%), shrimp 403 million USD (up 20%). Particularly, tra fish 224 million USD (down nearly 1%).

Next were the Japanese and Philippine markets, while South Korea fell to fifth place. The European market accounted for 42%.

Mr. Phung Duc Tien - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development - assessed that from the market structure, we can see that the quality of our agricultural products meets the needs of high-end markets. For example, we have had a very good start in the United States and Europe, which shows that the recovery of the markets as well as the restructuring of the agricultural sector has been more closely linked to the market.

In addition to the markets of China, the United States, Japan, the EU..., in the coming time, the Ministry of Agriculture will focus on exporting agricultural, forestry and fishery products to Halal, Middle East, and African markets...

According to Mr. Phung Duc Tien, the Ministry is currently directing the De Hues Group to focus on exporting chicken meat to the Halal market. It is expected that in May, the group will sign cooperation agreements with the first two countries for export. In addition, the Ministry has also directed the seafood industry to focus on promoting and opening the Halal market.

"Although we have exported to many markets and trade promotion has been effective, we must enter demanding markets with special characteristics so that Vietnamese agricultural products can reach many segments and many markets to increase export revenue," Mr. Phung Duc Tien added.
