Hoa Lu Towards the 10th Anniversary of Trang An's World Heritage List

In just a few days, the 10th Anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage will take place. These days, all the streets of Hoa Lu district are filled with flags and flowers; the atmosphere of preparation for the big event has spread to every house and every person in the district.

As residents living in the core heritage area, these days, Ms. Hoang Thi Phuc's family in Truong Yen commune regularly works with the people in the village to clean up the village roads, alleys, and landscape, contributing to beautifying the homeland. Ms. Phuc happily shared: We are proud to live in the world heritage area, so when the district launched the "10 minutes from home to alley" movement, the whole population actively responded to clean up their homes, their villages, their communes, and more broadly, their homeland Hoa Lu. We realize that this work not only brings a civilized and clean living environment to the people but also brings beautiful landscapes to the tourism environment, contributing to promoting Trang An heritage to domestic and foreign tourists.

In preparation for the activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage, for many months now, women in Ninh Hai commune have also organized cleaning, collecting waste, removing obstacles, cleaning roadsides, and gathering all waste to designated places... This activity takes place on main roads from Dong Gung bus station to Dinh Cac boat station and self-managed roads around Tam Coc-Bich Dong tourist area and residential areas.

Comrade Vu Huy Toan, Chairman of Ninh Hai Commune People's Committee, said: This is the peak period when the commune directs organizations to launch an environmental cleaning campaign, to tidy up the sidewalks, clean up old and damaged billboards, trim trees along the main roads, and decorate flower pots in the main areas to prepare for the anniversary and the annual "Tam Coc Trang An Golden Color" Tourism Week. In addition to the general environmental cleaning, the commune also assigned the Commune Farmers' Association to organize the collection of grass and reeds in the rice fields along both sides of the Ngo Dong River, creating a landscape for tourists to visit; at the same time, the police and military forces coordinated to ensure security and order in the commune... At the same time, it propagated that people should tidy up their houses, village roads, and alleys, and be aware of preserving the general landscape, serving well the upcoming major events.

Coming to Trang An these days, what impresses tourists besides the beauty of Trang An Scenic Complex is the female boat rowers here who create the unique attraction of Trang An Eco-tourism Area.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, a boatman at Trang An wharf, said: Although the work is hard when starting a new day at 5am, and during the peak tourist season, we have to wake up even earlier, we boatmen always feel happy and excited. Because this is not only a job to earn a living but also to promote the beauty of our homeland. Therefore, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Trang An being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage, we boatmen feel our responsibility and affection for the heritage as well as contributing to building a beautiful image of civilized tourism in the eyes of domestic and foreign tourists. We hope that visitors to Trang An always feel relaxed and satisfied not only because of the wonderful natural beauty bestowed by nature but also because of the warm and sincere welcome from the local people, and being immersed in a green, clean and beautiful environment.

As a locality located in the core area of Trang An heritage, Hoa Lu district has proactively issued a Plan to participate in activities celebrating the 10th anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage (2014-2024); a Plan to ensure environmental sanitation before, during and after the Hoa Lu Festival 2024; an official dispatch on urban embellishment, ensuring landscape and environmental sanitation on roads in the heritage site to serve the 2024 festival season and 10th anniversary activities; developing a plan to coordinate participation in the Ninh Binh Tourism Week "The Golden Color of Tam Coc - Trang An".

The departments, branches, sectors and organizations of the district have promoted propaganda activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary through the following forms: propaganda and visual agitation; propaganda on mass media; propaganda through cultural, sports and tourism activities; propaganda through the activities of the grassroots cultural and information institution system.

Comrade Hoang Ngoc Hoa, Vice Chairman of Hoa Lu District People's Committee said: Up to now, the whole district has deployed hanging 13,950 flags of all kinds; repaired and renewed 15 large panels and panels on the citadel gate and in communes and towns, with a total area of 433.12 m2 on main roads in the district and tourist areas and spots. The District Culture, Sports and Broadcasting Center has created a 3-minute audio file for propaganda, broadcast 3 times/day, promoting the achievements in the process of preserving and promoting the value of Trang An Heritage; about the long-standing history and culture; about the landscape, the people of the ancient capital Hoa Lu, gentle, friendly, elegant and hospitable...

Regarding urban beautification and environmental sanitation in urban areas and tourist attractions, the District Center for Environmental and Urban Sanitation has completed the repair and installation of high-voltage lighting systems on the route from Cau Huyen Intersection to Thien Ton Pagoda and Cave; completed the trimming and beautification of flower gardens, lawns, and median strips; beautified trees on Highway 1A, Truong Yen Commune; and collected garbage and water hyacinth on Chanh River and Sao Khe River.

At the same time, the communes have mobilized the people, organizations and unions to clean up the environment to ensure a bright, green, clean and beautiful environment in tourist areas and residential areas in the district. Hoa Lu district has also strengthened state management of culture and tourism, coordinated with agencies, units, and People's Committees of communes and towns to organize propaganda activities to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex being recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage, promoted tourism in the district; continued to effectively implement the movement to build a civilized lifestyle in tourist areas and destinations in the district.
