Mr. Tran Hong Ngoc, Vice Chairman of the Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality, Ministry of Science and Technology , said that in the Vietnamese standards system, there are currently 23 standards related to electric vehicle charging stations, including: 8 standards on charging station cabinet systems, general requirements, electronic compatibility, communications and safety; 3 standards on charging cables; 7 standards on ports, sockets and charging posts; 5 standards on electrical measuring equipment.

"These standards are built on the basis of full compatibility with ISO, IEC standards and regulations of the European Commission. At the same time, the Ministry has established many technical committees on national standards for charging stations, with the participation of management agencies, domestic and foreign enterprises, associations, universities and experts," said Mr. Tran Hong Ngoc.

Regarding national technical regulations for electric vehicle charging stations, Mr. Ngoc said that the Ministry of Science and Technology has studied international experience, surveyed manufacturing, assembling and testing enterprises in all three regions. The Ministry has drafted the regulations, consulted with ministries, localities and enterprises; and publicly posted them on the electronic information portals of the Ministry and the Government, as well as notified the World Trade Organization (WTO).

"Up to now, the Ministry of Science and Technology has completed the draft of Vietnamese standards and is preparing to issue them to serve state management as well as production and business activities of enterprises," Mr. Ngoc emphasized.

Adding, Mr. Ha Minh Hiep, Chief of Office of the Ministry of Science and Technology, former Chairman of the Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality, said that in the initial phase, the installation of electric vehicle charging stations mainly followed the basic standards self-declared by enterprises. However, the actual implementation has revealed many shortcomings, so stricter standards are needed.
