The trio of Vietnamese national team players including midfielder Hoang Duc (Phu Dong Ninh Binh Club), midfielder Quang Hai (Cong An Ha Noi ) and central defender Duy Manh (Ha Noi FC) were officially selected by the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) to join the ASEAN All-Stars team.
This squad will participate in a special friendly match against Manchester United Club, taking place on 28 May 2025 at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The match was part of the Maybank Challenge Cup and was a fundraiser to support Al-Sultan Abdullah (YASA), a prestigious charity in Malaysia.
This event is also considered an opportunity to honor Southeast Asian football talents and affirm the role of football as a bridge to spread human values.
According to information from AFF, the three Vietnamese players were selected based on their excellent performance, professionalism and impressive competitive spirit in recent times.
Among them, Hoang Duc stands out in the midfield with his creative passes and ability to control the game; Quang Hai continues to affirm his class with his "soft" handling both in the club's jersey and the National Team; while center back Duy Manh shows his leadership role in the defense, with a solid and enthusiastic playing style.
Previously, AFF officially announced the selection of Mr. Kim Sang-sik - head coach of the Vietnam National Team - as the commander to lead the ASEAN All-Stars to compete against Manchester United.
Sharing about this event, the "captain" of the Vietnamese team emphasized: "It is a great honor to lead the best players from all ASEAN countries in a match of such importance. We are not only representing our countries but also showing the world the pride, spirit and strength of our region."
