Crown Prince Akishino and Princess visit Hoi An

During his official visit to Vietnam, on the evening of September 23, Japanese Crown Prince Fumihito Akishino and Princess Kiko visited Hoi An city and met and paid a courtesy visit to the leaders of Quang Nam province.

Welcoming Crown Prince Fumihito Akishino and Princess Kiko, Party Central Committee member, Quang Nam Provincial Party Secretary Phan Viet Cuong informed about the results of the province's cooperation with Japanese provinces and cities. To date, the Japanese Government has funded Quang Nam to implement many projects with a total ODA capital of nearly 830 million USD. Japanese investors have invested 18 projects in the province with a total capital of more than 139 million USD, mainly in the fields of industry, tourism and services. Regarding tourism alone, in the first 6 months of 2023, nearly 10,000 Japanese visitors stayed in Quang Nam, accounting for 1.3% of total international visitors.

Quang Nam province's leaders hope that the Crown Prince and Princess will continue to pay more attention to promoting the friendly and cooperative relationship between the two countries in general, and between Quang Nam province and Japanese partners and localities in particular, to develop further.

Crown Prince Fumihito Akishino said that this visit to Vietnam is of special significance, being the first official overseas visit of the Crown Prince and Princess after the COVID-19 pandemic. This is also the first visit to Vietnam by the Japanese Royal Family in 6 years since the visit of the King and Queen in 2017.

The Crown Prince of Japan shared his great joy in returning to Vietnam to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. This is the first time the Crown Prince has visited Quang Nam province and Hoi An city. Hoi An is a very interesting Heritage city, the Crown Prince and Princess are very eager to visit this wonderful heritage.

In Hoi An, Japanese Crown Prince Fumihito Akishino and Princess Kiko visited the Goshuin Ship model, the Japanese Covered Bridge relic, the Japanese cultural exhibition house; watched a tea ceremony performance, and took souvenir photos of Japanese costumes, which are relics that mark the friendly relationship between Vietnam and Japan from more than 400 years ago./.
