In the online consultation program "Directions for students after completing grade 9" of Thanh Nien Newspaper on the afternoon of May 14, representatives of colleges and intermediate schools said that vocational training is receiving much attention from parents and the labor market is also in great need of vocational school graduates.
Also in the program, parents wondered about which majors are suitable for students who have just graduated from secondary school and have jobs right after graduation. For example, a parent wanted their child to study automotive technology but did not know how this major recruits students and whether there is a job commitment or not.
Automotive technology is suitable for students who love machinery and engineering.

Ms. Huynh Thi Thu Tam, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City International College, said that students only need to graduate from junior high school to be eligible to enroll in the 9+ college program at the school. "With the automotive technology major, the school commits to 100% employment after graduation," Ms. Tam affirmed.
Not only committing to jobs, according to Ms. Tam, Ho Chi Minh City International College is also implementing a full scholarship program in Taiwan for students majoring in automotive technology and some other majors such as: computer programming, network administration, and business accounting.
"After graduating from these majors at the school, students have the opportunity to receive a Taiwan scholarship. Accordingly, students will continue to study at a university in Taiwan with the first year being completely exempted from tuition and accommodation costs, and the second year being 70% sponsored (about 27,000 TWD/month). After completing the second year, students will work for Taiwanese businesses for 2 years," Ms. Tam informed.
Meanwhile, a 9th grade student in District 5 (HCMC) asked: "Should I study hotel management or tour guiding to have better job opportunities? Will I have more opportunities to practice and intern at hotels and travel companies when studying this major?"

Master Tran Phuong, Principal of Viet Giao Secondary School, said that all majors at the school, including hotel management and tour guiding, have over 70% practice time, so in addition to practicing at school, students also practice and intern at businesses such as hotels, restaurants, travel companies, etc.
"By studying hotel management, you can work in reception, housekeeping, room service, marketing, customer care at hotels, and by studying tourism, you can become a tour guide, working for travel companies. The tourism industry is growing very fast, so both of these industries have high job opportunities," said Master Tran Phuong.
Because the family has a tradition of practicing oriental medicine, a parent in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City, wants her child to study traditional medicine to gain in-depth knowledge to continue the family business. Ms. Ngo Thi Hong Hoa, Deputy Head of Training Department of Tay Sai Gon College, said that traditional medicine is a key field of the school and has been taught at the school for many years.
"Students study for 2 years, the school has a clinic for students to practice. After finishing the course, students can work at home if their home has a clinic, or work at medical centers, treatment rooms, pharmaceutical companies...", Ms. Hong Hoa shared.
Tuition is completely free
According to representatives of colleges and intermediate schools, students graduating from junior high school who study vocational training will receive full tuition support from the state at the intermediate level. Students will study the high school cultural program (4 subjects) and the vocational program in parallel, and after 2-3 years will receive a secondary school diploma and a certificate of completion of cultural subjects. At this time, students can go to work, or transfer to college, or transfer to university with a work-study program, depending on their personal orientation and goals.
