Can Tho students cover school yard in red to celebrate National Day

Joining in the joyful atmosphere of the 80th anniversary of National Day, September 2, teachers and students of schools in Can Tho City organized many meaningful activities, fostering patriotism and national pride for the young generation.

From kindergartens to universities, every space is decorated with red flags with yellow stars. In addition to decoration, schools also organize many extracurricular activities for students to directly experience and feel history.

At Co Do Town Secondary School, nearly 300 8th grade students of the school together "covered" the schoolyard with the national flag, expressing the patriotism in their hearts.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Head of the Youth Union of Co Do Town Secondary School, said that a week before the school year started, the school had promoted the significance of the activity and instructed students to prepare the national flag. The program received positive responses from both parents and students.

“This is not only an activity to show patriotism but also a beautiful memory on the country's important holiday. The school also integrates the children to re-read Uncle Ho's 5 Teachings; the theme of the 2025-2026 school year's Youth Union work is Vietnamese Children Firmly Stepping into the New Era,” Mr. Hai shared.

At Vo Truong Toan Primary School, Ms. Dinh Thi Thao, the school's principal, informed that the school has organized many exciting and practical activities to review the heroic traditions of the nation, contributing to forming in the children a love for their homeland and country.

“We are very happy to see the students enthusiastically participating, from dancing, singing, performing arts to forming and performing national flags. Through this, the students not only understand more about the great historical significance, but also foster a spirit of solidarity and gratitude to the previous generation,” said the Principal of Vo Truong Toan Primary School.

International students impressed with National Day

In particular, the 80th National Day celebration also left a strong impression on international students studying in Can Tho City.

Many international students at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy shared that National Day September 2 is not only a holiday, but also an opportunity for them to feel more clearly the national spirit and patriotism of the Vietnamese people.

Saloni, an Indian student at Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, said: “When I came to Vietnam, I saw people expressing their patriotism in a very unique and warm way. They hung flags in front of their houses and decorated the streets. This is a simple and sincere beauty.”

Indian student Saloni also expressed her impression of the way the local community came together to create a united, friendly and culturally rich atmosphere on every major holiday.

Along with the heroic atmosphere of the whole country, Nam Can Tho University also organized a prominent activity called the Journey to the Source "Heritage Road", attracting many students to participate.

Le My Duyen, a student at Nam Can Tho University, excitedly said: “This is truly a very meaningful journey. Each place we visited left us with many emotions and valuable lessons about the fighting tradition of our ancestors.”

Not only is it an opportunity to review history, these activities also contribute to educating revolutionary traditions, the spirit of "When drinking water, remember its source", fostering a sense of responsibility among young people in the cause of building and developing the country today.

Previously, the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City issued a document directing its affiliated units to step up information and propaganda work to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2. The content focuses on affirming the historical stature of the nation, highlighting the achievements the country has achieved; at the same time, educating the younger generation to be deeply grateful for the sacrifices of previous generations and the help of international friends during the revolutionary stages.
