Grade 9 students have finished the registration period for grade 10.
There are schools where the number of students registering for specialized exams has decreased.
According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Principal of Le Van Tam Secondary School (Binh Thanh District), the school has 455 9th grade students, of which 454 students registered for 10th grade, the only student who did not register for 10th grade was due to his family settling abroad.
Le Van Tam Secondary School also reported that out of 454 students registered for the exam, 161 students registered for specialized schools and classes; 27 students registered for integrated English classes.
According to Mr. Tuan, initial data shows that the percentage of students from Le Van Tam Secondary School registering for specialized schools and classes this year has decreased compared to last year, from 50% to about 36%. The principal predicts that the decrease in the specialized exam rate may be due to the fact that in grade 8, students have had a long time studying online, so they are not confident in their knowledge, or it may be due to a change in their family's learning orientation. Many families no longer want their children to study in specialized schools and classes as before, but instead follow a different orientation to develop their abilities and skills...
Mr. Cao Duc Khoa, Principal of Huynh Khuong Ninh Secondary School (District 1), said that 100% of the school's 9th grade students have completed their 10th grade registration.
Students who wish to study in specialized schools and classes register for Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted and Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted. Students who register for regular classes mainly choose schools in District 1, District 3 and Binh Thanh District.
In Tan Phu District, the leader of Dang Tran Con Secondary School informed that out of a total of 350 9th grade students, 92% registered to take the 10th grade exam and 8% wanted to study at a vocational college.
Besides, Dang Tran Con Secondary School has about 10% of students registering for the entrance exam for specialized schools and classes, and mainly choose Nguyen Thuong Hien High School (Tan Binh District).

Should I adjust my wishes?
According to regulations, at 4 p.m. on May 12, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training will announce the initial registration data of students. After that, students can change their registration from May 15 to May 21.
Many parents are wondering whether they should adjust their children's preferences after the Department announces the number of students applying to each school.
Mr. Vo Thien Cang, Head of the Examination and Quality Assessment Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, shared that in order to improve admission efficiency, the most important thing is to accurately determine your academic ability. Avoid registering all 3 wishes for the same school or evaluating your ability higher than the reality.
According to Mr. Cang, in addition to self-assessment, students and parents must refer to the benchmark scores of previous admissions. It is necessary to refer to at least the last 2 to 3 years to analyze and determine accurately to avoid the unfortunate case of failing all 3 wishes.
However, the benchmark scores or quotas of the school in previous years are only one of the information channels for reference. Because the benchmark scores each year depend on many factors, such as the number of students registering for the exam, the number of candidates registering their wishes and the difficulty or ease of the exam or the average capacity of students each year...
In particular, Mr. Cang advised that to change the 10th grade wish, one must look again to accurately assess the student's ability and whether moving during the future study process (at the school the student registered for wish - PV) is convenient or not?
