This year, Le Quy Don competition students took on the role of tour guides. They visited and explored the spaces arranged by the organizers at the Zoo, then chose their own seats and performed the requirements of their exam.
The test content can use knowledge of literature, math, English, then synthesize and filter with personal skills so that students can demonstrate the role of a tour guide to introduce Ho Chi Minh City.
At 8am, with notebooks and pens in hand, along with the exam requirements of showing the different roles of "tour guides" for each grade level 6, 7, 8, 9, students are free to visit 4 experience corners: Photo exhibition of 50 interesting things about Ho Chi Minh City; Tour design consulting corner; Zoo and Botanical Garden learning corner; Cuisine corner.
These corners are all staffed by experts who provide basic information. There, students can learn about destinations, programs, cuisine , etc.; how to filter and combine content to create a tour; history, geography, typical flora and fauna, etc.
In particular, the children also enjoyed traditional Southern cakes to get more ideas for designing their own tour of Ho Chi Minh City.

The contest helps me and my peers understand more deeply about the landmarks, cuisine, and historical relics of beloved Ho Chi Minh City."
Sharing about this year's Le Quy Don Award, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City - said that the goal of the exam, in addition to supplementing knowledge for students, also requires them to apply that knowledge to their work, specifically the work of a tour guide introducing tourism in Ho Chi Minh City.
"In the local education program at school, students have learned a part related to the culture and history of Ho Chi Minh City. Through this contest, the department hopes that students will learn more about the city, so that they can love the city more and build the city to develop more and more," Mr. Quoc emphasized.
The Le Quy Don Award will start in September 2023. The award ceremony and honoring of valedictorians are expected to be held in August this year.
