Nghe An is one of the localities heavily affected by the recent storms No. 3 and No. 5. In particular, the historic flood caused by storm No. 3 that occurred at the end of July caused more than 50 schools to be severely damaged; many teaching equipment, desks, chairs, books, and supplies were completely damaged. Many teachers' families also had their houses and property swept away.

Immediately after the flood, the Nghe An education sector launched a "school helping school" campaign to clean up, repair damage, and provide support for facilities and teaching equipment. The Nghe An education sector also mobilized more than 3 billion VND from various sources to support schools and families of staff and teachers who suffered heavy losses due to floods.

On August 7, the Standing Committee of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee also agreed on the plan to allocate 300 billion VND to support overcoming the consequences of natural disasters caused by storm No. 3, from the central budget; of which, 50 billion VND will be allocated to support the repair and construction of new school facilities and purchase of teaching equipment.
