In 2015, 8 majors recruited for the civil system include: Information Technology, Computer Science , Information Security, Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Construction Engineering.
Four methods are used by the Military Technical Academy for admission. These are: direct admission and priority admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; consideration of excellent high school students with international certificates such as SAT, ACT, IELTS, TOEFL iBT; based on the competency assessment test scores of two national universities and consideration of high school graduation exam scores.
The admission combinations include A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English) and A0T (Math, Physics, IT), similar to the military system.
With the competency assessment scores of two national universities (scale of 150 and 1200), the Military Technical Academy will convert to a scale of 30, based on graduation exam scores and learning results of previous students, according to the Ministry's instructions.
The specific targets and training programs for the civil system are as follows:
TT | Industry and training programs | Target |
1 | Information Technology - Information Systems Program | 60 |
2 | Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence Program | 60 |
3 | Information Security - Cyber Security Program | 60 |
4 | Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering - Electronics and Telecommunications Program - Microchip and Embedded Systems Design Program - Semiconductor and Nano Technology Program | 180 |
5 | Control and Automation Engineering - Automation Program | 80 |
6 | Mechatronic Engineering - Mechatronic Engineering Program | 60 |
7 | Mechanical Engineering - CTM Technology Program | 60 |
8 | Civil Engineering - Civil and Industrial Construction Program | 60 |
The Military Technical Academy has been recruiting civilian students since 2002 but stopped in 2019 due to the policy of innovation and reorganization of military units. In response to the need for high-quality human resources, the Ministry of National Defense has allowed the school to resume training civilian students from this year.
The difference compared to the military system is that students do not have to participate in the preliminary selection at the district military command, are not exempted from tuition fees or arranged jobs after graduation.
More specifically, according to Decision No. 1017/QD-TTg dated September 21, 2024 of the Prime Minister, the Military Technical Academy is one of 18 public higher education institutions prioritized for consideration of investment in basic-level semiconductor laboratories to serve the training of human resources in the semiconductor industry.
Previously, the Military Technical Academy announced that it would recruit 360 students for the military system, of which 180 would be sent abroad for training, and 5 would be in joint study with the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
