Bac Kan Provincial People's Council passed a Resolution on merging provinces.

NDO - On April 24, at the 27th session, the People's Council of Bac Kan province passed a Resolution on the policy of arranging and merging Bac Kan province with Thai Nguyen province and arranging commune-level administrative units in the province.

According to the People's Council of Bac Kan province, the arrangement and merger of the province with Thai Nguyen province helps form a new development space with an area of more than ^8,300km2 and a population of more than 1.6 million people.

The arrangement will be carried out in the original administrative boundaries, including natural area and population, ensuring convenience in management and development.

After the merger, the new province with its capital in Thai Nguyen city will now combine the strengths of ecology, forestry, tourism, and minerals of Bac Kan with the industry, education , and urban areas of Thai Nguyen.

The arrangement and merger of provinces not only brings socio-economic benefits but also has important significance for security and national defense, especially in building national defense, people's security, and building military and security posture.

Regarding the arrangement of commune administrative units, the People's Council of Bac Kan province approved the policy of reducing from 108 communes, wards and towns to 37 commune-level administrative units, a reduction of more than 65.7% compared to present.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Phuong Thi Thanh, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Bac Kan province, requested that immediately after the meeting, the Provincial People's Committee complete and coordinate to complete the documents related to the arrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units to submit to competent authorities, ensuring progress according to regulations.

Proactively implement projects and plans to reorganize the apparatus, personnel work; manage and handle assets according to regulations.

The province continues to effectively implement tasks and solutions to achieve the economic growth target of more than 8%. Proactively review projects and works, resolutely stop implementing projects that are not really necessary to prioritize capital for projects that bring direct benefits to the people.

Also at this session, the People's Council of Bac Kan province passed resolutions on: Regulations on principles, scope, support levels and use of funds for rice land protection; approval and adjustment of investment policies for projects under its authority.
