Dr. Tran Bich Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety, delivered the opening speech at the Conference.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Dr. Tran Bich Ngoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety said that in the context of the whole country making efforts to achieve sustainable socio -economic development goals, energy transition, and minimizing the impact of climate change to achieve the goal of making our country a developed country by 2050, the promotion of the development and application of atomic energy, including the development of nuclear power, holds a very important position and role.
Delegates actively discussed and contributed ideas to the draft Plan in the Discussion Session of the Conference.
Dr. Tran Bich Ngoc said that on February 5, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 245/QD-TTg approving the Plan for the development and application of atomic energy for the period up to 2030, with a vision to 2050. The focus of the Plan is to develop and apply atomic energy for peaceful purposes, making positive, direct and effective contributions to the country's development in all sectors and fields; urgently completing and developing the national nuclear power infrastructure to serve the implementation of the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Project. In carrying out the assigned tasks, the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety is presiding over and coordinating with relevant agencies to develop a Plan to implement the Plan.
At the Conference, delegates focused on discussing and analyzing in depth the content, progress and roadmap for implementing key tasks, important programs and projects, and investment priorities. At the same time, the Conference also identified feasible and effective solutions and clarified the coordination mechanism and assignment of responsibilities among relevant parties to ensure effective implementation of the set goals.
