Comrade Le Quoc Minh hopes that the Conference will listen to frank exchanges of opinions and from there propose solutions to better implement key tasks in the coming time.

"This is a very important political task that needs to be carried out regularly and in accordance with the practical situation," comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia especially noted.
Regarding the 100th Anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested that it is necessary to urgently develop plans and projects to prepare for organizing commemorative activities.
"This is a very important political task of the Vietnam Journalists Association and all levels of the Association. It is necessary to closely coordinate with the steering agency, the central press management agency and local Party committees to synchronously and widely organize commemorative activities, creating a broad political movement in press agencies, all levels of the Association and its members, creating consensus and response from the press public for this important event," emphasized comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia.

Look directly at the shortcomings and limitations, clearly identify the causes, propose key tasks and breakthrough solutions to create a strong shift in press activities and the activities of the Vietnam Journalists Association in the coming time.
Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thi Thu Hang shared her opinion at the Conference.
Affirming the brand of the National Press Award
Reporting on the summary of the Association's work in 2023 and the implementation of key tasks in 2024, comrade Nguyen Duc Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association said: By the end of February 2024, the entire Association had 25,424 members operating in 307 units at all levels of the Association (63 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations, 21 Inter-Associations, 223 affiliated Associations). With 13,435 members, 63 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations account for more than 50% of the total number of members nationwide.
In 2023, the policy of "Towards the grassroots" of the Party Central Committee, the Standing Committee, the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association has been implemented synchronously, drastically and effectively in the work of building, consolidating and perfecting the Association's organization from the Central to the grassroots level; Building the Association's organization to be increasingly strong in terms of organization, professional expertise, inspection and supervision, and promptly protecting the legitimate and legal rights of members and journalists.
Comrade Nguyen Duc Loi said that the theme of activities for 2024 is: "Continue to build a strong Association: Solidarity - Discipline - Innovation - Creativity - Development"; complete the entire program, conduct Congresses of all levels of the Association of Journalists towards the 12th National Congress of the Vietnam Journalists Association, term 2025 - 2030".
Comrade Le Van Toa - Chairman of Lam Dong Journalists Association presented a speech.
One of the topics discussed at the Conference was the amendment and supplementation of the National Press Award Charter.
Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thi Thu Hang - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Professional Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that, based on synthesizing opinions from all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Professional Committee has revised the Draft with an explanation of the adjusted content and submitted it to the Standing Committee of the Award Council to issue Official Dispatch No. 50 dated March 4, 2024.
The majority of the Subcommittees, the Preliminary Council, and some members of the Final Council welcomed the Association's leaders' interest in amending the National Press Awards Charter. This is a necessary action to adapt to the development of journalism technology.
Regarding the conditions for participating in the competition, Associate Professor Dr. Do Thi Thu Hang said that it is necessary to consider that members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury are not allowed to submit works or products for the competition. Because authors can be nominated for many different types of awards, only the regulation that they are not allowed to participate in the type of award they are judging will encourage more authors to participate.
Some members think that it is a pity to reduce the award groups in the categories of Radio, Television, and Print. If there is funding, keeping the 3 award groups as before will be more rigorous and suitable to the reality of journalism.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Truong Giang shared about the training of journalists and her wishes to change the content of the National Press Awards.
However, there are also some opinions that collecting Radio and Television for each type with 2 series of awards as in the draft is reasonable, but collecting Print Newspapers with 2 types of awards and adding an additional award for magazines, needs to be considered further because according to the old Charter, there are 3 types of awards for print newspapers, of which, 280 political and social magazines currently mainly participate in the third type of award for commentary, editorials, and monographs.
If magazines were separated into a category of awards, the fairness for magazines would not be "improved" much because they would lose the opportunity to participate in the third award for print newspapers - which had been cut off, and also lose the opportunity to participate in the Electronic Newspaper award - because they had gone out on their own. Therefore, the opportunity for 280 political and social magazines to participate and win an award is much more difficult than for Radio and Television.
Comrade Ma Van Chuc - Permanent Vice President of Tuyen Quang Journalists Association at the Conference.
Discussing the issue of innovation in the National Press Awards, comrade Nguyen Duc Loi said that the National Press Awards may need to change the format, content, and structure of the Awards, but this must be done with extreme caution and requires further discussion and consideration.
"We will hold some meetings to invite some experts and some veteran journalists to continue discussing this content. This year, we will still organize the Award as in 2023, we cannot change it immediately. If we change it, it will be applied in 2025, which means the 2024 National Press Award."
According to comrade Nguyen Duc Loi, the issue of how to prevent the National Press Awards from being overshadowed by countless other press awards such as the Dien Hong Press Award of the National Assembly, the Golden Hammer and Sickle of Party Building or the Anti-Corruption Award of the Fatherland Front has long been a concern of the leadership. "We are determined to protect, maintain and enhance the value of the press awards. The National Press Awards - this is an immutable principle", comrade Nguyen Duc Loi affirmed.
The Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association said that the Association will have plans to make the National Press Award the most noble award, the most prestigious professional playground by trying to organize it on a higher, larger scale, the value of the award can be increased. The organization of the Award Ceremony must also be more luxurious and splendid.

Continue to innovate, promote activities, and effectively expand the Association's work in 2024 and the coming years.
