Attending the workshop were Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Quang Thao, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations; Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Thu Ha, Director of the Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry; Mr. Trinh Le Nguyen, Director of the Center for People and Nature; along with many experts in the field of conservation and sustainable development and nearly 200 delegates representing central agencies, scientific organizations, research institutes, enterprises, social organizations, local communities; central press agencies and provinces: Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, Cao Bang.
Representing Cao Bang province was Ms. Hoang Thi Binh, Chairwoman of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations.

The workshop took place with two main sessions: In the morning plenary session , delegates listened to reports on the relationship between biodiversity and green transformation towards sustainable development; the implementation status of the National Strategy on Biodiversity and the orientation for implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework in Vietnam.

In the policy and community forum , Ms. Hoang Thi Binh, President of the Union of Science and Technology Associations of Cao Bang province, shared experiences in implementing community models to participate in forest restoration and natural habitat protection in the locality, contributing to both nature conservation and improving sustainable livelihoods.
In the afternoon , delegates participated in 4 parallel thematic sessions , focusing on the following topics: Nature-based solutions and ecosystem restoration; Sustainable livelihoods and community participation; Integrating biodiversity and green transformation towards sustainable development; Implementation status of the National Strategy on Biodiversity into provincial plans and financial resources; Regional linkage and multi-stakeholder cooperation. Many typical models were shared, such as: Ecological agriculture project to create sustainable landscapes in the Northern mountainous region, including: Tonkin snub-nosed monkey conservation model in Khau Ca and Cao vit gibbon in Trung Khanh (Cao Bang); eco-tourism model associated with medicinal plant cultivation in Lao Cai ...
Delegates frankly acknowledged the remaining challenges and proposed solutions to effectively conserve biodiversity, which require mobilizing inter-sectoral resources , strengthening the role of local communities , and eliminating policies and subsidies that are harmful to nature . Integrating conservation goals into provincial planning, national target programs, and mobilizing green finance from the private sector are considered sustainable directions.

The workshop creates an open dialogue forum, connecting managers, scientists, businesses and communities to join hands in implementing nature-based solutions . The workshop results will be compiled into a policy recommendation report for the period 2025 - 2030, contributing to building a regional cooperation network on nature conservation and sustainable development of the Northern mountainous region - an area that plays a particularly important role in terms of ecology, culture and environmental security of the country.
On this occasion, the leaders of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations donated 100 million VND to support Thai Nguyen province to overcome the consequences of storms No. 10 and 11.
