International Conference “Vietnam's Challenge: Towards a High-Income Country by 2045”

On the morning of October 24, the opening session of the international scientific conference “Vietnam’s Challenges: Towards a High-Income Country by 2045” co-organized by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the University of East Asia officially took place. Attending the event was Vice Chairwoman of the People’s Committee of Da Nang City Nguyen Thi Anh Thi.

The workshop was divided into 4 working sessions and 1 forum, bringing together 14 thematic reports that are in-depth perspectives on Vietnam's economy. Speaking at the program, Vice Chairwoman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi highly appreciated the content of the workshop, and at the same time, emphasized that in the city's development orientation to 2030, with a vision to 2045, Da Nang will focus on developing three main economic pillars: tourism , high-tech industry and marine economy. The city is also implementing solutions for smart, creative and sustainable urban development, aiming to become an important socio-economic center of the Central region and the whole country. The workshop announced the main contents of the ERIA Report - a 2-year research project of the ASEAN and East Asia Economic Research Institute submitted to the leaders of Vietnam and Japan in November 2023. The report was compiled by scholars and researchers from Vietnam, Japan and other Asian countries, focusing on detailed analysis of past developments and current economic situation of Vietnam; with a special focus on the driving forces of economic growth, conditions for sustainable growth and solving social problems, as well as industrial cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.
