This morning, September 12, in Dong Luong ward, Dong Ha city, Plan International Vietnam in collaboration with the Red Cross Society of Quang Tri province organized the contest "Community joins hands to reduce flood risks" to equip the community with necessary knowledge and raise awareness about responding to and preventing natural disasters, especially floods in the context of increasingly serious climate change.

Accordingly, there were 6 teams (6 members/team) from 6 communes and wards in the province including: Trieu Long, Trieu Do (Trieu Phong district); Huong Hiep, Mo O (Dakrong district); and Dong Luong, Dong Le (Dong Ha city). The teams participated in three main competitions: Greeting, knowledge and practice on the river. As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to Dong Le team; second prize to Trieu Do team; third prize to Dong Luong and Trieu Long teams; and encouragement prizes to Mo O and Huong Hiep teams.

The competition is an activity within the framework of the project “Enhancing flood resilience for communities” (Zurich Flood Resilience for Community) operating from January 2021 to December 2024 in the 6 communes and wards mentioned above. The project is sponsored by Zurich Group and implemented by Plan International Vietnam and the International Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET-International).
