This afternoon (October 28), a delegation of the Cuban Small Farmers Association led by Comrade Félix Duarte Ortega, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Cuban Small Farmers Association, visited the indoor Phalaenopsis orchid growing model with a revenue of more than 100 billion VND/year of Mr. Dao Quang Trinh (Dong Son commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city).

On the afternoon of October 28, the delegation of the Cuban Small Farmers' Association led by comrade Félix Duarte Ortega, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Cuban Small Farmers' Association, and the delegation of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association led by comrade Phan Nhu Nguyen, alternate member of the Central Committee of the Party, Permanent Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Association, visited the indoor Phalaenopsis orchid growing model with a revenue of more than 100 billion VND/year of Mr. Dao Quang Trinh (Dong Son commune, Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city).

In 2022, Mr. Dao Quang Trinh (white shirt) is one of 100 outstanding farmers nationwide selected to receive the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer".

Expressing his admiration, comrade Félix Duarte Ortega, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Cuban Small Farmers Association, hoped that through the model tour, the delegation would learn experience in management, operation and production development.

According to Mr. Dao Quang Trinh, his Phalaenopsis orchid growing model has an area of ​​about 2 hectares, invested in more than 20 air-conditioned dome houses, with an irrigation system according to Israeli standards, thanks to which it grows and develops well.

Currently, each year the company supplies the market with about 1 million orchids, achieving revenue of more than 100 billion VND.

Mr. Trinh wishes that he himself can do what his farmers have not been able to do, invest in what his farmers have not been able to invest in. From there, he can motivate other businesses to be dedicated and invest systematically in the field of agriculture 4.0.

To avoid external factors such as wind, dust, and sunlight, he built a closed house (Israeli technology greenhouse) to ensure sun protection, filter radiation to avoid burning leaves or petals, and keep the natural color of the flowers.

Inside, a ventilation fan system and an air conditioning system are installed to help orchids grow and develop at a suitable temperature of 26 degrees Celsius during the day and 16 degrees Celsius at night. Investing in an automatic water filtration system that meets RO standards (meaning the water has been filtered to be clean, pure and safe) with a central irrigation control system, mechanical technology, automation...

Phalaenopsis orchids take about 24 months from tissue culture to blooming. Therefore, to have flowers to sell in time for Tet, Mr. Trinh had to build many rows of houses with many series of plants at different time scales.

The Cuban Small Farmers' Delegation hopes that Vietnamese businesses will share experiences, support cooperation and transfer technology to help Cuba develop further in the agricultural sector.
