Today (December 22), the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army

Exactly 80 years ago, following the Directive of Leader Ho Chi Minh , on December 22, 1944, the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army - the predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army was established in the forest of what is now Tam Kinh commune, Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province.

Under the leadership, education and training of our Party and President Ho Chi Minh, from the initial army of 34 soldiers, our Army has rapidly developed, continuously winning major campaigns, the peak of which was the Dien Bien Phu victory. The army, which had just turned 10 years old, defeated a professional expeditionary army established in the 15th century.

During the extremely arduous and fierce resistance war against the US to save the country, our Army fought steadfastly and heroically, won, the peak of which was the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, completely liberating the South, unifying the country, bringing the country into a new era - an era of peace , independence, freedom, and the whole country moving towards socialism.

Entering the period of building and defending the Fatherland, our Army has fought steadfastly to defend every inch of the sacred land of the Fatherland and fulfill its noble international duty.

In recent years, the Army has drastically adjusted its force organization towards being lean, compact, and strong, creating a solid foundation for building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern People's Army.

Reviewing the glorious tradition of 80 years of building, fighting, winning and growing, we are even more proud of the Vietnam People's Army - a heroic army of a heroic nation; an army that has fought every battle and won every victory.

This is also an occasion for every citizen to remember the millions of heroic martyrs, compatriots and comrades who fought and sacrificed for the independence, freedom and territorial integrity of the Fatherland, for the longevity of the nation and for the noble international duty.
