Today opens the 5th Session of the 15th National Assembly.

According to a press release from the Office of the National Assembly, recently, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Government, the Nationalities Council , the National Assembly's committees, the agencies under the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Assembly delegations, the National Assembly deputies and relevant agencies, organizations and individuals have urgently prepared the contents to be submitted to the National Assembly for consideration and decision at the 5th Session.

Before the opening of the session, at 7:15 a.m., leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, and National Assembly deputies laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum.

At 8:00 a.m., the National Assembly held a preparatory meeting. At the meeting, the National Assembly deputies listened to the speech of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; and listened to the report of the General Secretary of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong on the reception, explanation, and revision of the proposed meeting agenda. After that, the National Assembly discussed and voted to approve the meeting agenda.

At 9:00 a.m., the National Assembly held its opening session at Dien Hong Hall, National Assembly House. The opening session was broadcast live by Voice of Vietnam (VOV1), Vietnam Television (VTV1) and Vietnam National Assembly Television.

* According to custom, at the opening session of the mid-year National Assembly session, after performing the flag-saluting ceremony and introducing delegates, the National Assembly Chairman will deliver the opening speech; the Prime Minister will present a report on the supplementary assessment of the results of the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget of the previous year, the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget of this year; the Chairman of the Economic Committee will present a report on the supplementary assessment of the results of the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget of the previous year, the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and state budget of this year; the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will present a report synthesizing the opinions and recommendations of voters and people sent to this session; the Head of the People's Petitions Committee will present a report on the results of monitoring the settlement of voters' recommendations sent to the previous session.

The fifth session of the 15th National Assembly is expected to close on June 23, 2023 and will be held in two phases. Phase 1 will be from May 22 to June 10, 2023; Phase 2 will be from June 19 to June 23, 2023. The total working time of the National Assembly is expected to be 22 days, with a huge amount of work and many important contents.

At the press conference to inform about the Fifth Session, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Head of the National Assembly Office Bui Van Cuong mentioned a new point in the organization of this session: dividing the session into two sessions and having a one-week break in between sessions so that the agencies of the National Assembly, the Government and relevant agencies have time to absorb, revise and complete draft laws and draft resolutions, ensuring that legal documents are of high quality when unanimously approved and promulgated.

In the past time, with the spirit of proactively "from early, from afar", under the direction of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, the agencies of the National Assembly, the agencies of the National Assembly Standing Committee have closely coordinated with the agencies of the Government in the process of preparing draft laws, resolutions, and projects to submit to the National Assembly, organizing conferences and seminars to collect opinions from experts and full-time National Assembly deputies, continuously absorbing and revising to ensure the quality of the contents submitted to the National Assembly.
